This is going to be a very confusing post to all who go by title and then scroll to the last page or two. Haha

Ya sure. It’s an accurate statement.

So long as you don’t refer to the absence of tuning (JB4) as tuning, I don’t see any wrong doing.

Yikes what happened here?

Noting that I did pre-apologize (as Canadians tend to) for hijacking the thread.

anyone notice a louder turbo spool noise from just doing the downpipe? I was hearing it tonight and don't remember if it was as loud stock

I don’t think I hear the spool. I’d probably need an intake.

I didn't hear the spool after the AA DP install. I hear it after the Dinan intake install and absolutely love it!

How would installing one of these mess with my warranty from BMW? That is my only fear.

Your warranty is at risk if you're asking the dealership to repair damage that's directly caused by your aftermarket parts, for free.

When it comes to the downpipe, it actually helps reduce the pressure on the turbo, making it very unlikely that it would have any negative impact on your warranty.

Can the AA DP be considered a "tune" ?

Back to topic - i'm thinking of going the AA route , just don't want any potential CEL headaches . Is it indeed confirmed to be CEL free ? I saw some conflicting info on this , someone said that a CEL popped up after 1k miles - maybe due improper installation ? Any inputs or advices , as it seems to be one of the most popular DP for the G42.

it's not a tune, but a "bolt on" mod. and yes, if installed properly, the DP is CEL free and I believe AA even has a warranty for it being CEL free where you can RMA it and get a new one if it throws a CEL (or even a refund?).

24K miles 23k with the AA DP No CEL. Seems Like it does what it says to me. Installed by a shop listed on AA website in North NJ. This way I can go right back there if I ever have an issue.

Yes of course - was just a pun on the previous neverending back and forth on the JB4 and the technical ramifications of the "tune" terminology . And to be honest , although i did read every reply and greatly appreciate technical insights and knowledge, i wouldn't tune my car at the shop where the guy arguing the JB4 is not a tune works (or worked ). Not because of the technical knowledge which he clearly has , but due to the attitude. I'd end up doing my own map with zero knowledge and whatever number of hours of research necessary , and if the engine blows so be it , than go to him.

Your car isn't invited to my shop for tuning anyway, so you're stuck with the guys that bullshit to your face with a smile just how you prefer it

But for real, I work in engineering and manufacturing now, and you might just end up with my work on your car whether you ever know it or not muahahah

Yes you can def hear the turbo better with the dp that lil whistle diesel truck esq. Really imo the only downfall to the dp is the dirty sounding cold starts, but my neighbors are no fun anyway so who cares . Also xceller8 take er easy friend gbnf.
