At the end of the day, when you buy a performance exhaust that increases the sound, you have to expect it. There's no magic. I love the sound.
Agreed. I don’t mind the little
Drone there is.

Anyone know if we can use the stock tips? And can we order the dinan exhaust without the tips to save $$?

You can't order the Dinan exhaust w/o the tips(Dinan responded to this a few posts ago).

Here's their response: "Exhaust would not fit with the "bumper tips" as the piping would interfere with those covers. There are no plans for alternative tips at present but you could easily source alternative tips (shorter, smaller diameter, slass cut, etc.) and likely still come out much cheaper than any other option out there. Inlet size just would need to be 3" with an overall tip length of 5.625" or shorter."

I’m thinking it could work with the stock “bumper tips” but you’d have to shorten the muffler outlet pipes.

They could probably use a vice/heat and clamp down the ends to OVAL them out so they fit the stock bumper exhausts.

Exactly. I have no doubt my muffler shop could form the pipes to fit in under 3 mins.

100%. In the past I've always tried to find a muffler shop that has a mandrel machine for the smoothest best bends not to mess with the sound of the exhaust but for this job that might not even be necessary since it's the tail end of the exhaust.

If Dinan offered a no-tips option, I would likely go that route. I don't mind how the stock bumper tips look. More subtle / sleeper. The ali/ebay quad tips do look better in some respects though, if that's the style you prefer.

I assume you are referring to the "show" end? In that case they are 4" diameter. Inlet side is 3" diameter. Full tip length is 5.625" but the tip itself (not inclusive of the flange) is 4.25". That should be all the pertinent measurements anyone may need.

Does this exhaust cause the car to lose some low end torque/hp?

Sway bars are part of the product plan for every major platform (M240i included). However, the last couple years have been plagued with major delays/issues as it pertains to NEW sway bar production specifically. That's all to say its planned, development is technically already done -- at least on paper, but there is no time table on an actual retail release.

That is good to hear. I'm still trying to decide if the car is too loud with the AA dp and the Dinan Axle back. The way I see it is I have two options.

1) Remove the AA dp but that loses performance

or

2) Go with a different axle back. I'm considering giving the m performance axle back a try and selling the Dinan.

So I had the same debate but to be honest, while AA DP gives you decent gain, we are talking about a car that run sub 4 second 0-60 all day stock and the drone of the Dinan with the AA DP was way too much for me for a daily. Honestly, I bet that AA DP with the Akrapovic would probably be perfect since Akra isn't as loud as Dinan but almost $7K is nutty for it.

I am sure you'll have no trouble selling the Dinan, should you go the M performance + AA DP route. It's such a well made system and I love the look (I know, I know, subjective since a few don't like the tips). But it's my car and my style and I think it looks absolutely amazing.

Anxious to hear the results if you go with the M Performance axle back w/the AA DP. Same route I'm considering.

I would anticipate it fitting but to my knowledge it has never been physically fit to a 2024. There are no real reported changes from the 23 to 24 MY so my confidence in that is near 100%.

Great info thanks!
Think I may have sourced a more OEM looking típ, which is 3.5” long, and 3.25” diameter at the “show” end.

Question: As the Dinan tips are 3” diameter at the “show” end, would this 1/4” extra on the diameter inhibit two tips from sitting next to each other—how much space is there between the tips when installed onto the exhaust?
