sick thread, some nice builds

Simucube 2 Pro
Ascher fc28 wheel
Heusinkveld sprint pedals
ASR6 rig
Triple 32 144p curved viewsonic screens
Fanatec shifter
GT omega pro seat
2x Dayton bass shaker (one front, one back)
I use my MTB gloves and puma Ferrari shoes
and the best part, a 12v seat cooler that pays it's weight in gold in endurance racing

been a long build...started in VR with a GT omega cockpit rocking a g29 wheel and been slowly upgrading...close to my end game now

I would be down for this. I haven't used my rig in months almost thinking of selling it

I never get a chance to go on my rig, but I have:
Fanatec ClubSport v2.5 wheelbase
Formula V2 rim
HE Sprint Pedals
49" ultrawide

From retiring real life racing SIM racing does fill the void slightly, but life takes over so I've probably only been on once in the last 6 months 😂

SOme of these setups are epic! Not jealous at all!

I did have a spell of iRacing for a few months some years ago, but was a basic Logitech bolted onto a desk with it's clamp. Nothing compared to some of you guys!

What's the best wheel recommendation? I have a Logitech g29 but I'm realizing I need a better wheel. I'm thinking about upgrading to a fanatec, but want the best all around wheel for i racing, assetto and f1. Thank you all!

Excuse the cable (non-)management. Used with a 123" projector screen and 4K projector on a ps5.

Fanatec dd1 ps4
Fanatec club sport pedals v3
Fanatec Porsche 911 rsr add on wheel
Simlab rig

After seeing all these sim rigs I caved in and ordered me a rig .

Waiting on my RSeat cockpit to arrive, so I can put it all together.

Well, I didn't feel like waiting for a Simlab or Trak Racer, so got a GT Omega Prime cockpit. Then I got Fanatec pedals, which are a huge upgrade from the G29 pedals. But the G29 wheel sucks, so just ordered Fanatec DD2 base and 2 wheels. I'm trying not to tally up what I've spent thus far lol next up, need to upgrade my monitor.

My son and I use this quite a bit since he's been karting, so I chalk this up as an investment towards dad and son time. I'm still trying to hold him off as far as lap times, but he'll catch me in next 1-2 years haha kids catch on quick

Very surprised to see so many people using displays. I was a 3 screen player until I bought an Oculus Rift. Playing iRacing once I tried the Oculus and realized I was in the car and could look over the edge of the door and see pavement, preview the apex headed into the corner I was hooked.

Went from a G20 Logitech I'd had since 2008, upgraded to Thrust Master components in 2019. Not as elaborate as some I've seen here, Nice Stuff, but it works.

I might have to look into the Oculus Rift since I only have desk space for dual monitors. At what point do your eyes start getting fatigued from the Oculus?

Here's my rig I just built. Found out my 10 year old daughter is quite the driver, so she's been getting a lot more seat time than me lol. She was hitting 1:53 lap times at Laguna Seca on Assetto Corsa in the mx5 miata by her second day and that was just with me giving her advice on driving lines and brake reference points.

I'll spend an afternoon sometimes in iRacing, but with a break or two. I may work on a setup for an hour and a half, and then want to change the track or maybe even change cars. At this point I need to relaunch iRacing using Sim Commander 4 for the ButtKicker or it doesn't respond.

Sometimes I'll leave the ButtKicker off and I can be in easily 2.5 hours.

The only time my eyes start to get tired is when the generated weather is dreary and overcast.

BTW.. Very Nice equipment!

Thanks! I'm going to have to buy dirt 2 or something to put that hand brake to work. I haven't even used the shifter or hand brake yet, kind of regret purchasing it to be honest

I ran the Rift S then the HP Reverb 2 before I went triples, so I have a bit of experience with VR...I had no issues with VR (motion sickness, etc) from the minute I put them on, and they felt great and immersive...having said that, if you haven't tried a pair yet, take it for a test drive before you commit, some people cannot use em due to motion sickness.

To answer your question, I really enjoyed VR, but I found myself doing more and more endurance racing and thats where I found it to be a bit of a drawback...I was fine doing 2 hour stints with them (then letting other drivers drive, which gave my eyes a break), aside from the heat and sweat, but anything longer became an issue...I did a 2-man 12 hour Sebring event in a GTE and took the first 4 stints in VR (4 hours + quali)...when I got out of it and ran to the washroom (4 hours is a long time, lol) and saw myself in the mirror, it was frighting...my eyes were blood shot and extremely fatigued...I was done at that point and decided to invest in triples

VR is awesome, and I think if you grow your VR "legs", you can safely run 2 hour stints...anything more and I'd say it's not ideal if you care about your eye health...and I am no doctor, just seeing what I saw in the mirror that day was scary

Quest 2 is really all you need with the current crop of headsets if you plan on only using it in the rig.

I have it hard wired to the PC but there is a wireless update I havent tried yet. There's a new version about to be released that doubles the base storage (which you dont need anyway for PC) and its the same cost as the lower storage option which is being phased out.

Besides the Rift-S I do have the Original Quest. I would think the wired would be Fine but can't imagine the what the Lag would be like using the Quest wireless.

I tried Bluetooth headphones in VR once and it was really really slow lagging behind the video by a good 8-10 seconds.

The only other thing I'd like to figure out is how to set a Fan up to the Accelerator so when using VR in the Open Wheel cars you get a bit deeper immersion.

great... I stumble into the photography subforum and buy a camera and a few lenses. Now i find this forum lol. Had a fanatec wheel, shifter, and pedals hooked up to a laptop stand 10 years ago. Ended up breaking due to the torque and flimsiness of the thing. But now.. wow these setups are legit.

Loved mine while it worked. after spending an hour or so racing... i felt no need to take my own gtr out and speed around like a lunatic.

no complaints for the price, I ran one for a few month before I got the 49er and bought 2 more for the rig to match the 3.

It is a bright display with real nice vivid colors (better than the 49er by far) but it has glare...it's always being detected @ 144hz...some people from the reviews had issues with it flickering...I've noticed it once or twice, but not something that happens frequently, or even occasionally.

would recommend it
