I let the inner ricer in me take over lol - 50% of people will hate this,I’m ok with that. I’m the only one who sees it anyways - The OEM ambient lighting was too basic for me. So I did a custom setup
217 options and modes - Posted a video on IG for anyone who wants to see more.

I got mine done at a shop so I don’t know which kit they used,But if you search “Flow ambient lighting” tons of different kits come up. Last edited by Value; 02-21-2023 at 06:40 PM.. |

technically this was done yesterday but picked up a 2023 230i last night. M Sport plus some other convenience goodies, really wanted the Dynamic Handling package as well but it wasn't meant to be in this market...
first BMW and first car that resembles anything close to a sports car or grand tourer since my youth... grew up around Porsches with my Dad having owned various iterations from 356's to 996's and everything in between and have so dearly been missing having something like this to enjoy personally for far too long. i know the M240i is the must have at this point and arguably even the greater performance bargain, but having enjoyed 993 & 996 generation 911's the performance of this 230 combined with the lighter driver feel is more than enough to put a grin on my face. too bad no M/T but at least the wife can drive it too, and happy wife... you know the rest looking forward to many wonderful years of ownership... |

You're in good company. Car and Driver notes that the 230i with the M Package is the model to get Here's a small blurb from their Editor's Choice piece: We think the rear-drive 230i is the one to buy. Its 255-hp turbo four isn't nearly as quick as the 382-hp straight-six in the M240i, but we found it delightfully rewarding to drive with the addition of the Dynamic Handling and M Sport packages. The former requires the latter but combined their mix of performance upgrades (bigger wheels on stickier tires, firmer suspension components, stronger brakes, etc.) and unique visual treatments are highly desirable. |

i don't doubt once the reviews come in on the RWD 240 they will be equally as glowing if not more so, but for me personally i dont know that it will make me look at our 230 with regret...
and i have some experience with this having the opportunity to have driven a base 997 911, 911 S, and then a 997.2 GT3... all bring their own experience to the table, but at no point after having driven the higher performance versions did i turn my head away from the base 997 all of this to say if you're dealing with a great platform, which i think the G42 is shaping up to be, you're really just talking varying levels and flavors of greatness |

I actually sought out the 230I over the 240i. I checked out an M2 Comp as well, but since this car was to be my daily driver, I went for the 230.
I'd love to have the engine note of the B58, but other than that, I find the 230 plenty quick, especially for the street, and a ton-o-fun handling wise. I'll probably do some sort of exhaust mod once there are some more options, but other than that, I'll be set. The G42 platform is certainly capable and I love the classic lines of the car. It seems there's a little something for everyone, including the G87 M2, which should also prove interesting. |

Agreed, the G42 does have classic lines. I think it’s the best looking car in BMW’s current lineup including the M models.

I'm assuming those are fiber optic strands, right? Did the shop explain how they're getting power to light up? Might have to try it in my rice-mobile Celica first.
