Likely CCB will be a for-cost option. On the M4 CS in Canada it is a $10.900 (USD$7,900) option on top of the $165K (USD$120K) base price.

Not a CSL so my guess is it will be just has heavy (or heavier!) as the other G87s but with more power—and no manual. Unfortunate…

F87 on net wasn’t a big reduction, as many of the carbon bits were additions vs replacements…but CCBs were a big unsprung mass reduction and CF roof lowered center of gravity, on top of addition of active dampers which added weight back…so you basically got “more stuff” for a little less weight, but more power to help and overall better weight distribution. Also, interior upgrades at the time were seemingly small but in reality massive - going from Dakota to Marino leather, adding the carbon transmission tunnel, M4 seats and alcantara everywhere with red stitching really made the interior feel “special” vs M2C. I think that jump is going to be harder to achieve now given how much better the base interior is.

BMW is already defeating the whole purpose of having a M2. When the F87 came out they gave us a short wheelbase, rwd, light-ish weight M car that's fun to toss around, a worthy E46 successor in regards to keeping a 6cyl (E92 is also a worthy successor imo but V8). We've lost 2/3 of these qualities already with the G87 and now I'm reading here people wanted awd on a platform that's already 3-400 lbs heavier than our current CS. Yes, let's add more weight, understeer and worse turn in on something that's supposed to be the best handling driver's M car. The 3rd Gen M2 will likely be as big as the F82 M4 with the way things are going. My F87 CS along with the E92 M3 will be the last generation BMW Ms I ever buy for myself at this point, unless the direction drastically changes in the future

its going to have the front end carrier hubs from the M3 CS, and additional bracing, plus the extra power. new wheels etc. Basically a mini M4 CS but RWD

Agreed, the exclusive color, wheels and mainly the interior were huge selling points for me on the F87 CS. Limited production is nice too.

525HP is a big number. The M division knocks it out of the park with the CS models.

I’m going to say it will start base around low 90s with CCBs putting it over $100K.

I’m tempted to put in a deposit, but with auto only, I don’t think I can justify six figures.

Having the same thought. Roughly 90lbs lighter than the M4 (or whatever the xdrive weighs) - the rest is existing CS parts bin.

The F87 CS is not ‘3-400lbs’ lighter, not even close. The G87 wheelbase is an inch longer than an E46 M3, and an inch shorter than an E92 M3. Having owned an F87 and now G87, the G87 is a huge improvement in almost every respect.

That wasn’t my comment, but I’ll chime in. The F87CS is 270lbs lighter than the G87, so it’s pretty close. Did you own a CS or Comp? There’s a real difference.

EVO, throttle house and many others disagree that the G87 is a huge improvement in every aspect or any improvement for that matter. Many still call the F87CS the best modern BMW (M5 CS gets named a bit also).

The other CS models are all fantastic in their own right if you want a bigger car.

For the record, I really like the G87.

Curb weight of the F87 CS is about 3450 and just around 3800 for the g87, do the math yourself if you don't believe me. No denying the performance of the G8x platform, that's why it hides its weight so well. G87 is 4 inches longer with 2 inch longer wheelbase compared to the F87. My point was that they're making what's supposed to be the small performance coupe into a larger and larger car

The car will come out and youtube guys will shit all over it and they will sell like hotcakes and real consumers will buy them and appreciate what BMW achieved with a great platform. Everyone now are so detached from what cars are built to do in reality.

I owned a comp. There was nothing magical about the CS suspension, it was just the dampers from the F82. The G87 suspension is much better. Your right though perhaps I should just entirely disregard my thousands of miles actually driving the cars and just base my opinion on what journalists or influencers have to say. 👍

I'm just basing it off my own experiences too, not what some random YouTuber or journalist thinks. I currently own a F87 CS and E92 M3. I've also driven the G80 and G87 but not G82. I won't say I know those cars extremely well as someone who owns one but I've driven enough miles to at least get a decent feeling for both. The G87 certainly hides its weight a lot better than the G80 but it's still noticable. Here's some numbers from BMW blog regarding the weight. If you're comparing it to the OG M2 it gets close to that 400 number and the C/CS is closer to the 3

The EDC just helps make it a more complaint street car. You're right they're the sames ones from the F8x comp. It's the alignment, cup 2s, significant drop in unsprung mass with CCBs/wheels, lower center of gravity and CS software tuning for steering/dampers that makes the real difference compared to a regular F87C. In terms of power, the G87 is relatively equal to the CS. So the new CS will definitely be a welcome upgrade in that department but imagine what a significant improvement the car could've been if they managed to keep the weight within 100lbs

I also owned an E92 M3, great car and I'd like another one someday. In terms of weight, all of the cars you have listed are pigs. BMW hasn't made a properly light car in 20 years. What the G87 has in a small amount of extra weight, it very quickly makes up for in every other respect. Chassis stiffness, damping, tech, interior, you name it. The weight is a non issue in any setting. Put a stock G87 on track against any flavor F87 and it will walk away from it, that's how much better the car resolved is. By all means criticize the car for something subjective, like its awkward look's or exhaust sound or whatever. But the weight argument is so tired at this point because it doesn't reflect the actual reality of how the car drives or it performs. Personally I think the F87 is in no mans land of BMW's. It doesn't have a high revving naturally aspirated soulful engine to make it truely special, and everything it does the G87 does better.

I have way more fun in my CS than I did any of the times driving a G87. Turn all the nannies off and it certainly doesn't have the same raw/analog feelings as the CS. So I guess it doesn't do everything better lol if you're trying to give a novice driver a car to drive fast, they'd go way faster in the G87. But if you know what you're doing you'll enjoy the CS more. I'm only talking stock out of the box cars btw, like I said the G87 platform is very capable
