Mine updated last night after I got out of the car. Haven’t driven yet to see if there’s an issue.

This irritates me. There is no reason for settings to be lost when an OTA update is performed.

Imagine doing all your settings on your phone every time it updated

Yeah, I don't understand how this is even a thing. It's not acceptable. Think the normies out there that are not enthusiasts that have all their crap resetting all of the time. And not just resetting, but probably at least temporarily breaking stuff with these updates. This must consume an awful lot of dealer service time.

Especially since recents updates have not provided much new.

We traded my wife's ordered '23 Grand Cherokee after only 8 months because of constant software update issues. Memory settings kept resetting, wouldn't recognize the fobs, screen kept shutting off, etc. All the dealership would say was "hopefully they'll release another update to address these things in the future". Dealerships can't even fix the issues because they're all software-related.

Just press and hold on one, than you can move its location, or delete it. You can also add widgets.

Days after I installed the update, it was acting normal, then all of a sudden one morning, the AC, back-up camera, Bluetooth, sat-nav, almost all electronics completely went out without any explanation. Pretty much all I could do was drive it. I used Bimmercode to recode it to a backup of the head unit software, and that worked and now I'm updated and back to normal, but it was really scary. I have an appointment at my dealer set for Friday just to ensure there's nothing permanently wrong.
Just wanted to update after my visit for the benefit of the group. The dealership did not ask a single question about coding, how things broke, the back-up, anything. They were just happy I was able to get it working again, performed my break-in service (even though I’m at 451 miles) told me to “open it up” and sent me about my way. I have a a great dealership filled with enthusiast techs and I buy a number of M cars, so I believe this is actually a vote of confidence/nod towards us savvy customers. Still, be careful with coding and updates in this new G8/9X generation!

Control Panel dead until car restart

Had two episodes where the Control Panel did not function after the SW update. Worked fine after I stopped the car, walked away with the key and then restarted after a few minutes, so not a big deal, just annoying. The first time it was a black screen with the M logo, and the second time (today) just a pure black screen.

I was able to finally able to fix all my coding back to how it was. Used BimmerCode and Bimmer Utility. Needed Bimmer Utility to get the Glare-free Highbeams back up and running, BimmerCode handles everything else. Still have no clue what this update “fixed” , but fortunately it hasn’t changed the ability to code things. If you use ProTool that is now broken, on them to update their databases.

Went into privacy settings and set it to not update…hopefully that setting actually works!

On what device did you go to privacy settings? Thanks.

In the car - go to vehicle settings, privacy (or similar), then “choose my options” and you can turn off remote software update and app updates separately. I think the app updates are just for the apps that you run from the car (if any) and aren’t involved in the updates to the ECUs. I don’t use any apps in the car so turned that off to be safe.

Would like to know this as well. Curious if it's different than with BimmerCode.

Updated software last week and for first time ever my climate control has glitched twice: with automatic program and AC on, it suddenly decided to put itself into high level fan while blowing ambient temperature instead of cool AC (AC button was still on)… resolved by turning climate control off and back on again
