Once you open it up, it’s clear how the car should have come from the factory. I notice more the valves being dynamic, however. I think a controller will be the perfect compliment.

I’ll upload some sound clips soon.
Did you ever get some clips?

I purchased the AA equal length mid pipe from Extreme Power House. It is way louder than I was expecting. Video sound clips online are deceiving. It sounds great after the cold start which I do not like with the factory muffler. Especially with the valves closed. It too loud with them open on cold start. I feel bad for my neighbors. I was planning on getting the Active Autowerke rear axle-back but I wanted to ask if anyone recommends a different system over the AA system.

Good grief that youtube clip of the single midpipe sounds pretty awesome right there. This is likely going to be a change I go for - hope like crazy there is no drone. Not a drone one can tolerate - I mean NO drone.

Valves closed its pretty quiet still at cold start. I cold start backed in with garage door shut out of habit from my last car which was wake the dead loud at cold start. But if it's still a bit much just drop the car to gear immediately and idle roll out for the first 10 sec as it warms. But like I said to me it's still super quiet unless cold starting with valves open then it's actually surprisingly loud for a little boosted 6😁

It probably seems louder than it actually is due to the valves rattling during could start too. Remove the vibration and it wouldn’t sound half bad.

Just ordered the AA single mid pipe from XPH. I'll post installation pics and a sound clip when it arrives.

Mike was very helpful. It's worth giving him a call if on the fence about which product to get.

Will the axle back make that much of a difference paired with the midpipe? Like is it going to make cold starts unbearable for the neighbors. Or since everyone says all the noise comes from the mid and downpipes does the axle back just change the tone? What’s your all’s experience?

Any audio clips?

The downpipes are what makes the cold start very loud. the axle back will not make a huge difference.

Just posting a follow up on the AA single mid pipe.

My initial impressions:
-Good fitment and build quality
-Easy install. Took 70 minutes using a lift.
-Cold start and acceleration under load sounds great.
-The exhaust note isn't much louder than stock at idle. I was hoping for something a little louder and more similar to the sound at start up.
-On/off throttle burbles are very pronounced. I see this as a negative but those that like burbles will see it as a positive.

Glad you like it

For a more aggressive sound, pair this midpipe with catted downpipes or axle back

For US spec cars does the midpipe give anyone problems for inspection? Some people were mentioning you don't have to inspect the car for X amount of years when new, but shouldn't it not matter if it's just a midpipe +/- axel back? The midpipe doesn't get rid of either of the two catalytic converters, right?

The AA midpipes get rid of the secondary cats. Could go with a Dinan or AWE midpipe if you want to keep those.

If I’m looking for to keep it tame with down pipe in the future, is resonated mid the play? I want to go single mid based on all these discussions, but I don’t fully grasp how down pipes will change the sound in a couple years. I feel like I read a post by Mike saying resonated with DP, but I can’t find it

I would still do a non resonated midpipe then if you plan on keeping the axle back stock. From what I’ve heard it’s still decently quiet in comfort mode with that setup.
