It's looking pretty promising in the ugly department so far.

The list goes on and on. It's very sad.
BMW would be thinking wrong if they think ZF8 brings more customers to the M2 platform than DCT, they already lost 3 from my side. Then again, one ZF8 sold probably makes more profit than 3 DCTs sold.

Optimistic! I'm expecting 6-speed, CF roof, adaptive suspension, S58, better interior (including HUD), and improved steering, ride, grip & handling, based on what BMW accomplished with G80. This will be my F80 replacement.

That car is the F87. More raw dynamics, less restricted (last S55 are locked), less digital (instruments), more carbon (instead of metal engine strut brace or faux luxe interior of the G8x), smaller and lighter (particulate filters mandatory).

Why? Some F87 CS owners are throwing that away. Added weight and complexity with future legacy dramas (hence why many of these cars are converted to good old hydraulic systems).

Is the Porsche 911 a large or small car. I think a G87 M2 might even be a bit bigger.
What's the wheel size of the 992 911? Back 21", front 20".
So, why do you think, that 20/19 is too large?
It's all about driving dynamics.

God yes!

A piece of me wants to "cash in" my F87 now while prices are high to prepare for G87. Another piece wants to have both. Would hate to move it along and then be disappointed in G87.

Agreed, this recipe is so enticing. And if it's ~$65k, you can more or less count me in. Would be a great way to say farewell to the 6MT if this is the end.

I guess the idea of a really affordable M car (a la 1M or OG M2) is less popular than it was, I see a lot wanting everything possible in this chassis.

BMW's strategy for the G87 remains to be disclosed, are they going to move up a price bracket like they did with the M3/4 or offer a bare bones M car with super expensive models like they did for the end of the F series..

As time goes on, the target audience seem to have more money to spend so my guess is we should see a price increase.

The G87 M2 fenders look rather un-"traditional", though.

It sounds like there will be a lot of options such as carbon roof that will add to a base price for those that want the more expensive version. It will be interesting to see base starting price and all the doodads that can be added.

Indeed

Though the big draw of the OG M2 to me was the lack of doodads!

Car drove and sounded great, what else do you need?!!?

As long as it has 6MT, A/C, heat, and a stereo, I'm good to go!

Let's hope they change their mind on the carbon bucket seats.

Pumped for this car!

If the new M2 G87 has options like the M3/M4 then I believe the configured price will be higher than what people are expecting.

The stock M2 suspension was hard on my back but I loved everything else about the car.
