This was a nice "fake" teaser by the M department. But in order to have a teaser you have to have "actually show" a small portion of what it is that you're teasing the audience with. This provided nothing (not a single shot) to the crowd & was a big, super dry bummer... !

It seems like BMW is doing everything to deter enthusiasts from the brand.
I really want a BMW less and less. I was slowly getting used to the new M3 look - Vorsteiner's front end makes it better. Touring M3 and M2 were an option but then they fitted iDrive 8 to everything. New I-series cars are looking more like French cars than BMW. The marketing team is just a joke - mistakes like this Tesla ad by BMW are too often. |

This would make a great ad for mens perfume that is sold off the self at grocery stores. Wide eyed, open mouthed ladies staring at the guy driving with cologne oozing out of the windows as cruises by.
This has nothing to do a track weapon that will be sold at about 60K and out of reach for the Axe customer |

I didn't believe it until I went back and looked at the video. They used stock video from another car with post prod editing to make it look cool.
The most significant thing about that for me is the marketing editors don't know their own car and didn't think twice about using a different vehicle. Embarrassing. Surely BMW has some talented in-house content creators they can use? Why go out to an agency for one of their critical core products? This pic does it for me. Fog lights on a M2 : |

I agree with the part about being a mass-produced car company, which is obviously what BMW is and has been for, well, ever since they transitioned from airplanes. I do like the imagery of the cigar-smoking E30 owner. BMW has segmented their business properly and took advantage of financing to make it possible for folks at lower incomes to afford a car of their dreams. Can't blame them for being intelligent to sell more cars, after all that affords more R&D. BMW over the decades was the impression of progress - be it real or imaginary - and the temptation to migrate upward through their range. Marketing as the ultimate driving machine was their only real ploy. The real genius of BMW is in their manufacturing excellence and build quality. Sure, half their transmissions fail after 75k miles, and some of their V8 engines fill with corrosion. But their vehicles are over engineered to a fault, and I love them for that. Still, I don't give them a pass on this cheesy tik tok crowd video. Be more like apple and tesla and release the car already preferably on a stage and with some sharp spokesperson. Can't wait to see the new M2. |

What's sad is that you don't even need the actual car to represent it in a video. A lot of car commercials are shot with a specially fitted, generic model car and the advertised car's "skin" is digitally superimposed over it.
A little cheaty, but better than using stock footage of a competitors car to represent your much vaunted new release.

30 seconds of my life I'll never get back.
I don't connect with the video at all. If I was the M brand chief executive, I'd reorg the marketing team. They've lost their way. |

Yeah it's dumb, but I took it positively because they're at least now acknowledging the car is coming in marketing.

Lol, are you trying to say ppl are leaving BMW in droves and running to Porsche? Most BMW owners are not cross shopping with Porsches, only wealthy people can afford a real Porsche. The typical BMW owner can probably only afford a cayman or a macan, neither of which is both practical and sporty. BMWs are good all rounders that are reasonably priced. You're not getting your kids and golf clubs in the back seat of a cayman or 911 and you're not having fun canyon carving in a macan or cayenne. You can do all of that in a bmw M car and it will cost you much less.

BMW is catering more towards the non-enthusiasts who just want the badge. Porsche can afford to cater to their core audience. Enthusiasts and people who really really want that badge lol 😂. Porsche also still offers European delivery. I love my m240i and hope to drive the heck out of it for years to come, but if Porsche announces they are axing gas cars in the very near future, I may jump ship. |

You telling me you disagree is not a good argument lol.
What's the price of a base model 911 these days? 100k? Most people can't afford that, especially since it would most likely be a second car, not a daily driver. With a bmw on the other hand, you can own one car and it will get your kids in the back seat, your luggage in the trunk, and can do track days on the weekend. What Porsche are you buying for 70k (price of m3) that can do that?
