I just made the suggested "fix" to my harness. Can't test it yet as my M2 is still on a ship, currently docked in Panama. Note that it is possible to make the alteration without cutting/splicing wires. Refer to the later replies (starting with Reply #93) in this thread: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1202389 Instead of using a jeweler's screwdriver to release the retainer clips for the contact pins, I used a paper clip (as recommended by another contributor to that thread). You just slide the end of the paper clip into the little hole next to the pin, apply lateral pressure, and the tiny spring clip should release, allowing you to pull the wire free. If it doesn't work, then try inserting the paper clip into the little hole on the opposite side of the pin (there are holes on both sides). Note that the pins are not necessarily inserted into the connector in the same orientation, so you may need to "probe" the inward hole (i.e., the one toward the center of the connector) for one wire, and the outward hole (i.e., the one toward the edge of the connector) for the other, which was the case for me. Before re-inserting the wires, reversing their positions, of course, I used a tiny screw driver to bend out the little spring clip on each connector - they'd flattened out a little during the extraction procedure. Good luck! -scr Last edited by SoCalRob; 09-16-2016 at 08:43 PM.. Reason: added details |

Question.... Do we need to do this for every single harness or did they start to sell/supply the harness correctly in the last few weeks?
I do not really hear any issues with the bass at my end, so I am wondering if my harness wiring is OK. I do not really feel the need to open the trunk compartment again to do the change if all is already correct. Edit: After some research I feel I need to do it as well... Uhmm task for the upcoming weeks. MR Last edited by MR.; 09-17-2016 at 04:26 AM.. |

Not sure since when they fixed it, but I sent them a message to make sure its been corrected before I order. I always looked into it but was not willing to live with the tradeoff.
My message: Hello, I had been on the fence about ordering the ASD bypass module since I read you had to live with the tradeoff of losing some bass. I recently read some threads online stating that this was really due to a faulty wire diagram from BMW which caused this product to be wired incorrectly. I also read that you guys are aware and have corrected this issue on this product and you will no longer experience the loss of bass. Can you confirm this before I order? Their response: Fixed confirmed -notice that website link for ASD Bypass harness is no longer showing a warning about bass loss. 👍 Regards Elías -------------------- I will be ordering one now! Thanks everyone here for the info! |

I too contacted TechnicPnP and asked whether or not all new orders are being filled with updated harnesses and received the following response from Elias: "ASD Bypass harness is completely fixed of schematic problems. Full bass restored. 👍"

Coded Off the ASD on my car
Just got back from Breda where I got my car coded. On my way home I made a short video. The car sounds so much better now without ASD (coded out)!!!
Second clip. Also did a few other things that I will show in a more thorough (and better filmed) video: • Fold in exterior mirrors without delay • Remove seat belt reminder • Start/stop memory • Enable rear lights during daytime driving lights • DVD in motion (apparently now BMW did something to prevent this and we only managed to have it working up to 32kms/h) • DIVX/XVID codec support • Play video files through USB stick • Code welcome light to stay on 60 seconds instead of 20 seconds • Remove door window lock when opening door • Add turning signal in exterior mirror to welcome light • Enable exterior lights under the door handle to turn on when putting car in reverse gear • Disable Active Sound Design |

Did you notice any negative impact to the sound quality when coding out ASD?
For a while I thought folks couldn't figure out how to actually code it out. Is it well documented now for folks that want to code their own car? |

I don't know if anyone has posted already but ASD can be turned off via coding too. Which is Free!
