Honestly though. What is it with that lately? In this thread and at least 2 other threads on this G87 forum alone. Blows my mind people come on here and physically type out their salary. Why on earth is a BMW forum turning into a dick measuring contest on how much someone makes? The immaturity lol

Lots of dealer reps including mine have seen it in the flesh at an M event where select dealer reps were invited.

My assumption is the average M2 buyer age is late 30s - 40s. Old enough to financially be able afford a $75k car comfortably, young enough to not be deterred by the boy racer image. Early 20s and retirees are probably 2 standard deviations away and a small percentage of the actual buyers.

I apologize for how I came off but it's not for dick measuring I assure you. I was trying to add a shock factor like, "oh shit 21 year old makes 200k that's crazy!" I thought you guys genuinely wanted to know lol.
To be fair, you asked how old we were, with the context of 911 owners making an avg of 300k. The prompt was given, and the prompt was answered. In my defense, if I didn't give you MY context, I feel like most people would just assume someone's buying it for me so I feel like the context was required. |

In Cali / NY metro : get ready to pay $70k in tax. Of the remaining $130k, 25% is RSU and you would be foolish to cash out right now. Of the $100k left, say goodbye to $45k for rent (SF/NYC). Of the $55k: $20k for 401k, $20k+ on food/partying / travel Equation gets worse if you have student loans or want to have any money to save/invest $200k in SF/NYC or Seattle where most SDE jobs are is like making $100k in Texas for example. Still a great salary but perspective is key. |

Who cares about people sharing salaries. I for one am interested to hear other owners' full situations. Age, job, salary, financed/purchased, past/future car plans, etc. I've always been open to talking financials even when I made minimum wage. It's usually not a dick measuring contest, some of us are curious and others may be proud! Never understood why it should a secret.
If you are sensitive to sharing things like these with strangers, don't! But I don't see why it's an issue for others to share if they want to. Personal insecurities don't have to come out |
