Yeah, that was not my intent when I started this thread. I just mentioned what the ave salary was for a 911 owner. I did not think it would turn to this...my apologies.

I should have just made this an age poll instead LOL.

You don't need to apologize whatsoever! Any normal person with an average reading comprehension capability could deduce you were asking the forum their ages, not salary haha

My assumption is the average M2 buyer age is late 30s - 40s. Old enough to financially be able afford a $75k car comfortably, young enough to not be deterred by the boy racer image. Early 20s and retirees are probably 2 standard deviations away and a small percentage of the actual buyers.

I don't know G87's unique position but 200k for an SDE job is generally just enough to survive.

In Cali / NY metro : get ready to pay $70k in tax.

Of the remaining $130k, 25% is RSU and you would be foolish to cash out right now.

Of the $100k left, say goodbye to $45k for rent (SF/NYC).

Of the $55k: $20k for 401k, $20k+ on food/partying / travel

Equation gets worse if you have student loans or want to have any money to save/invest

$200k in SF/NYC or Seattle where most SDE jobs are is like making $100k in Texas for example. Still a great salary but perspective is key.

Who cares about people sharing salaries. I for one am interested to hear other owners' full situations. Age, job, salary, financed/purchased, past/future car plans, etc. I've always been open to talking financials even when I made minimum wage. It's usually not a dick measuring contest, some of us are curious and others may be proud! Never understood why it should a secret.

If you are sensitive to sharing things like these with strangers, don't! But I don't see why it's an issue for others to share if they want to. Personal insecurities don't have to come out

There is a big difference between a thread asking people's ages and a thread explicitly asking someone's salary and living situation.
