Was set on ZB, but wow BG is quite nice! Like some have mentioned, it does remind me of HS.

As a former F87 M2C owner, I dig the new gen. Had some doubts with change, but now onboard. Let’s see if BMW announces the comp model by end of 2023.

Warming up to the idea of a manual Supra, since the styling isn't so polarizing now compared to latest offerings from BMW. The new Mustang Dark Horse is very intriguing as well. On the second hand market, a few M2 CS are starting to drop into $80k range.

Yeah I think this car will be close to 70% manual.

Of the six I have in my order bank, zero are auto right now.

I've now resigned myself to the fact that because I'm stuck with TR as my best paint option, I'm going to have to order a G80 instead of a 540, sometime in '23 just to get a manual with an individual paint option and standalone carbon seats. Well done BMW for making me spend more money.

For some people it is difficult to accept the arrival of something new and better, but for M2 owners it is more of a religion, most of them are not car enthusiasts, they are taliban.
I couldn't join in the M2 section when I had the M2C because I found the level of most of the threads very shoddy and childish, and after seeing what happened when the M2 Competition was released - horrible front end, ugly rims, heavier, bad sound, more unsprung mass and so on - I didn't expect anything different for the G87.
The M2 section is mostly populated by desperate guys (I guess in their 20s) looking for confirmation that their M2 is cool or sound nice, or that is a real M-car.
This is to say that the facts once again confirm that the shitstorm comes mainly from F87 owners, and it is hard to believe that they are not biased.
I've owned an M2 Competition and I've seen the new G87, I like them both in different ways but it's impossible not to say that the F87 looks pretty dated to me now.

The F87 M2 variants, (whether bmw intended for this to be the case or not) they are cars for different needs and purposes, and they end up being quite enjoyable for the owners

When something is objectively the different direction away from the standard of 'beauty' that we have seen for past several decades in car culture, dont be surprised when a large number of ppl voice their opinions

Problem is, you want to be in a bubble, an echo chamber repeating those things that make ya feel good all the time, this isnt a healthy approach to things, because bubbles, they tend to pop sooner or later

The reason they didn’t make it look like the 7 is because the target market for that car, design wise, was Chinese market, male buyers 38 years old. Clearly bmw M has a different direction with a different target audience, hence the M2 design language being markedly different. Personally I think the G87 look incredible, especially in darker colors. BSM is my favorite color on G87. I’m not sure why the Smurf blue was the launch color, but BMW has to do something to confuse us. I’m not in the market for a G87, but if I was, I don’t think there is much else out there that’s better than G87 for the price.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, I think we're mostly in agreement. The G87 looks great, except for the schnoz. But you like it, and that's great and if you like the new 7 and the X7 that's great too.

I don't however think the Chinese market argument makes sense. Lots of manufacturers are vying for the Chinese market, not many of them are making the same design decisions (Audi, MB, Lexus, etc). It's not an attractive design, & I get that some/many like it, but I don't buy this argument that many apologists are clinging to.

Furthermore, It's ok to dislike a car's design. Too many people get way too butthurt if you disagree and its getting really really weird.

If you like it buy it, if you don't then feel free to bitch about it. It gets really annoying when others can't just accept that there are people that don't like a design.

Reviews are only useful to pass the time in the morning on the toilet, actually, I only trust myself not because I think I am better than the reviewers out there, but because I have my own tastes and preferences, and since I am the one who will be paying for and driving the car I am going to buy, I need to like it according to my own feelings, not someone else's.
Probably someone lacks self-confidence and needs someone else's statement to be sure of their purchase, which is also fine, but that is not my case.
For example, the OG M2 was a good car and all the reviews were great, but when I drove it I found that it was not what I was looking for, lacking some of the things I was already missing on my 1M, so I gave up. For some people the M2 was the right car, for me it wasn't enough, to each his own.
I'm sure all the reviews of the G87 will be great as usual, but that won't add anything to my decision of whether or not to buy it.

It looks fine, I think the grill just needed a surround that wasn’t the body’s color. I’d like it in an individual blue color.

I’m also starting to think some of these angular hard points is due to CLAR.

Overall, I don’t love it and don’t hate it. The F87 somehow doesn’t look as great next to it either.

People who have access to a wide range of performance cars from a wide range of manufacturers , and still sing praises for the F87, that's seems like a legit confirm to me!

If you can design a car that even the most average of consumer will look at and say 'wow!', then you are on to something...

If you need to be coerced and convinced to 'get used to' the design of your new and 'improved' lineup of cars, then it may be time to fire your head designers, or whoever is calling tha shots over there , cause they are sinking your ship
