I am slightly conservative so had reached out to Ron E92 for his .02 cents. RaceChip did not list G87 on their site so was a little skeptical about running the box designed for a standard G80 chassis (yes they are the same engine but there has to be software difference given one makes more power than the other).

Anyways, I called up two vendors to learn more about the product and application. Aparently RGSport is the only vendor who has the kit for the G87 (Ron also confirmed his kit came with the G87 M2 sticker on the box).

I decided to give it a go. The kit arrived in time and nicely packaged. The install was not as simple as I thought. The clip A (on the harness) takes a while and you'd need a vice or something to pry it off. Anyways, after many hours of frustration I decided to re-install everything and ship the product back.

But on Saturday, a close friend (Audi tech) decided to help me and convince me to give it a shot. He was able to get the A plug off in a few mins and the entire kit was a go within an hour (professionally routed, mounted on the cover of the brake fluid reservoir so fully stealth).

Traction off full throttle in 3rd, the rear end will light up. I kept the traction on and the car has come to 'life' for a lack of a better term. Its a bloody hurricane.

Extremely pleased! I am running setting 7 and 3rd gear (mine is a manual) is all you'll need for a bit of sporty driving. Tried 6 at 2500 rpm and gunned it and speeds pick up quickly (up to 100MPH without effort).

Essentially the car is FAST!

Big smile for a vehicle which is already a lot of FUN.

r33_RGSport Is this some other Racechip version? I only ask because I spoke with Racechip Germany last week, and they told me they don't have an official GTS Black product for the G87. I have the GTS Black for my X5 M50d and wanted to take advantage of the "free reprogramming for new vehicle" feature they offer. I only ask to find out the time frame of when to expect the GTS Black for the G87 to hit the market.

Yes, it is the same as any other.
It just I am the only one that have access to the map since I have put an effort to help them in developing the Map.

I also have it on my G87, but with DSC off I have traction in 2nd and 3rd easily. Possibly the difference is because I am auto and it's hitting a torque limit?

lutfy,
Is your outside temp cold? I'm in 80s to 90s

80 degree ish. 34psi tire pressure and 100 degrees on tire temps. With MDM its fine. With traction off, spins 2nd and 3rd.

Tried switching between 7 and 1 and then back to 7 while WOT in 4th and 3rd. You can tell the difference.

Right on! -- Do you have any idea when Racechip plans on releasing the G87 GTS Black?

Fwiw according to racechip, if it's the same motor it's the same product.

M3/M4 racechip is more than likely the exact same as the M2 Racechip, there are 0 hardware differences between the two motors, these guys claimed to collaborate with Race Chip about a month ago for tuning.

Unless someone can actually speak to the specific changes between the two sounds like nonsense.

M3/M4 Jb4 works on the M2.... M3/M4 other boxes work on the M2...

US version already released, but only available through me for now.

https://www.rgsportshop.com/racechip...bmw-s58-g87-m2

Some other brand like to generalize their software.
And they have a good track record in blowing motor for piggyback tune.

Does this other brand you are referring to start with a J and ends with a 4?

Can you elaborate on where you had difficulty with the A connector? Was it reaching it? Unplugging? Reconnecting?

What did you try that didn’t work? What finally worked for your friend?

Did you loosen the water pump and moved the hose over like in the Racechip G8x installation video?

I ask because I will attempt an install on my own right after breaking. Thanks.

I appreciate the sentiment guys, but it's a product upgrade issue for me. I'm not sure if Racechip offers the same service in the US, but for the German market if you buy a GTS Black from them (for any car), when you switch cars you can "upgrade" your existing GTS Black hardware to run the software for the new car (and get a new loom fitting the necessary connectors). It's a one-time upgrade to the GTS Black, and I'm trying to get that done with my G05 M50d GTS Black, so I can put it on my G87 that's coming later this month. As of now it's still "in the works" according to Racechip Germany, but r33_RGSport has me hopeful it'll be released soon, so I can run with the big boys

Same in the US, you do get 1x free reprogramming within 24 months of purchase. Afterward it is $149/reprogramming.

If you like to switch cars, really worth it.
Other popular brand doesn’t allow you to do it even though it is do-able, they just don’t want to do it to make more money.

I recently just bought the Race Chip for my G87 and got a 60-130 time to compare to stock. Bone stock hardware no intake or exhaust. Stock time was 10.6 with 1800 DA, while Race Chip map 7 was an 8.9 with 1000 DA. 1/4 mile time also improved from a 12.20 @117 in 1800 DA, to 11.97 @122 in 2400 DA. The car drives very smooth and the chassis handles the power as if it were stock!
