Sorry to see that hopefully the owner recovers. Do you think the backend let out because driver released the gas pedal too quickly or track conditions?

That’s typical. Insurance doesn’t like to cover race track usage.

To say nothing for the fact that the entire drivetrain was aftermarket (axels, trans, motor, turbo, etc) and on beadlocks. No way any normal insurance would cover it...

Perhaps a dumb question - But when a driver wrecks at a track or a course, does the driver have any responsibility for damages to the property ?

Generally yes. Look up the potential bills for crashing at Nürburgring.

Plus, that was not an event but a privately "rented" time (by whom, who knows). He also probably received a bill from the first responder aka ambulance.

Now, with that said, this kid was driving a car with $100k or so into it, also owns/owned a TTRS and now another G42 M240 that he will build...not sure where the funding is coming from but doubt any fee that track may charge him will be an issue for him.

Maybe next time he should try a better track (NHRA sanctioned). That track he ran down looked pretty sketchy.

Likely the mismatch of sidewall difference from front to back along w/his over-correction in decel

This can be done if the front is a larger sidewall drag radial with a fairly deflated pressure

It’s a fine balance that needs to be tested or you’ll wreck the car exactly like he did

Same as this R8 @ 5:45…

Quite a huge loss. But apparently, he has already acquired another G42.

I wonder if any of his mods were salvageable.

Typically yes. I’ve crashed at a Time Attack and I had to pay for a fence that my car took out.

If you’re lucky enough to take your car to Germany, you can go to the Nurburgring for a lap or two. If you wreck, you’re responsible for all damages to the track and your car as well.

Glad he's OK because he did the right thing - he was at the track and wearing a helmet.

Unsure if he’d be more protected with the helmet in case of a rollover, however, so probably better safe than sorry? It’s tricky.

Full face shield helmut is required when running at that speed (9.99 or quicker).

Lost my engine oil in 2 minutes

Hi all experts, does anyone know or can help me?

I connect my BMW X5 F15 xdrive30d, to computer (ThinkDiag+) and want to see if there is anything what need to be fixed, changed etc. there was few little issues
like:28CF00 LIN, Message; Inteligence Battery sensor:Missing
and: 244800 Information Diesel Particulate Filter: Limited Remaining Distance Available

Battery sensor missing mayby because it was ex-police car.
and fuel filter already ordered for exchange.
I reset all issues and go to test drive. first round in normal drive about 0,5 mile. second round same distance in Eco mode. third drive I go in Sport+ mode for longer distance and I recognised white smoke behind me.
when I go closer to my house dashboard show me message: YOUR ENGINE OIL PRESSURE IS LOW. SLOW DOWN VEHICLE AND SAFELY PARK, SWITCH OFF ENGINE.
This was about 20-10metres from my house.
when I parked on my drive white smoke go from underneath my bonet, carefully I opened it, there was oil everywhere. even front wheels from inside was from oil.
my question: is it possible to flush out engine oil by resetting some incorrect function using this ThinkDiag+ diagnostic software, please?
can you help me? before this reset I don't have issue that oil leaking somewhere

thank you for your help

Looks like they already ripped out all of the aftermarket engine parts. Turbo is clearly gone, tossed in stock intake for some reason, rear seats are suddenly there, etc

Not knowing his build, I know that should be a key component that should have been addressed. Also having the correct aero is key too. We arent talking about 150 MPH. 170 in that is scary. That 20 MPH makes a big diff. And what about tire pressure? So many things could have contributed to the fail. Full M car...diff story.

That power he's pushing...its not all about the engine. Brakes, aero, susp, braces, etc. And high speed training. Both hands on the wheel. You can keep the wheel steadier if both hands are on it instead of one. The one hand at that speed....the littlest movement on the wheel and the car is out of control.

Hes lucky he walked outta that.

You do realize that car has aftermarket axels, brakes (racing to fit those rims), transmission and who knows what suspension mods. It seems to be built similarly/same at CT Shop's car (from the outside) that has run in the 7s.

Most places have a deductible. No one ever reads it. The last track day I went to it was at $7,500 deductible.
