The 2022 330e is heavy and underpowered or undertorqued. I shouldn't have said the engine was wimpy, but it sounds like it's working too hard to get the job done. The engine is wimpy for the application. Just my opinion. I've had multiple 330's and other turbo 4s as loaners when my other cars were in for service. But, the electric only isn't powerful or demonstrative of a typical EV. The steering on modern BMWs is disconnected and can't be attributed to the i4 being electric. It's because electric steering just doesn't have the feedback that hydraulic systems have had. The last BMW that had really good steering feel was an E90. The F series cars were named correctly because they deserved a failing grade for steering. If you want to talk about soulless, I wouldn't call all EVs that. I think a lot of modern cars in general have no soul and that's ICE or EV. But trying to claim you dipped your toe in the water of EVs with a mild hybrid with limited only EV range is still laughable.

Yep, that's me
But honestly Jeep got it right in my Wrangler. Almost every function is redundant. Almost every function can be controlled via touch screen or button. Best of both worlds. Plus it has a real Speedo and Tach Honestly I find iDrive 8 distracting and dangerous. Other manufacturers have reversed course and found a happy medium. Yes, I'm older and don't intend to talk to my BMW. Driving a fast electric iPhone holds no appeal to me |

Took me about a week to get used to iD8 and I haven't looked back. I find that the car is pretty good at adjusting temp on its own and as soon as I get in it connects to my phone for music. That's about all I need and I don't really have to fumble around with it too much. I think iD8.5 fixed some of the iD8 climate control shortfalls. Can't comment on iD7. |

I think the biggest problem with iDrive right now came from Apple. Messages used to pop up on the screen when listening to the radio or not using CarPlay. Now I just get a ding BMW Genius blamed Apple anyway. Feature disappeared after an iPhone update so they are probably right. Now get off my lawn |

If they'd just put the darned climate controls as buttons instead of that awful screen!

I came here amongst endless bickering to say this,
My R1S quad motor was my first non ice vehicle I bought last year and I actually love it. When I jump into my DCT F82 it's a different animal and feels really quite stupid in comparison to the EV, I still like it sure but I drive the M4 less and less because at the end of the day, they're both commuter cars and I have literally zero ego, needing of instagram cred, track focused driver, etc. to prove the M4 is a better drivers car. That being said, " I would totally buy a full electric M3/4". Assuming it doesn't look like a pig faced gremlin OR a confused hybrid M5 that looks like a Toyota Camry.

Notwithstanding, you admit government interference is "mostly for the overall good" and then opine that this EV thing is "stupid stuff" because it's based on "dubious reasoning." Then isn't the real reason for this "hate" has to do with whether or not you believe in climate change (because if you do then it's not stupid stuff)? I'm on the fence on climate change but, at this point I'll stop because this is a a political hot button I'd rather avoid. |

For sure should not be called an M3. Have to differentiate a bit. Porsche did that with the Taycan and re-used Turbo(S)... Makes no sense.

Never said that it will be like the M5. Yes, it will be a mild hybrid, but nonetheless a hybrid.

BMW is just trying to stay afloat and comply with an irreversible trend on emission limitations and EV adoption for the mass consumers. They are a ong the best at the moment in keeping some degrees of driving dynamic and traditional recipes.
Difficult to predict but 100% it will be a tough world for car enthusiast. Even Porsche is getting there, last GT3 992.2 will be probably the last with a NA because of emissions. 992.2 GTS now t-hybrid, hopefully BMW will go similar route as it looks the best compromise with minimal weight increase and electric support of the ICE to offset turbo lag . I don’t like any of this and even my xdrive has too much Tec and nuances for my taste , that’s why I won’t probably keep it and looking for a 991.2 GT3 (or a 991.1 with engine replaced), or if not possible back tp the origin with well specd go kart, pure and simple driving experience ( and it’s not 200 + k😅 . |

Poor EV consumers… you will dropped and left you in the cold as soon as BMW perfects theur fuel cell tech. All behind closed doors.

Could you make a small effort and try to spell correctly? Hybrid and EV platforms are going nowhere in this brand.
