Manoa is pretty far inland and on somewhat higher ground. They should be fine there.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing. I hope your safety wall will be sufficient in protecting everything, man.

US is sticking to 8.9, even after Japan changed their evaluation.

Who cares about the 0.1 anyway, "it was fucking huge" would suffice.

0.1 at that magnitude is a difference. The Magnitude scale for earthquakes isnt linear in a sense that its double the strength. A 2.0 is 30 times stronger than a 1.0 so yes even .1 is a difference. Nonetheless, this would still cause major damage.

I understand that, but still, it was fucking huge, and the number isn't really that important.

I always end up watching Aljazeera when I NEED to watch the news, like now. It should be broadcast in the U.S. Very happy they provide a stream themselves.

Sendai got whacked. What an incredibly beautiful city. Prayers go out.

Anyway, the weather here has been really strange. It was starting to get warm (felt like Spring was coming), then suddenly this week it got cold (it snowed here on Wednesday morning suddenly!). Right now it's starting to rain. I guess the strange weather and earthquake kind of co-incides. However, we are worried, since there was a quake in Hokkaido, followed by the "Tokyo" quake. It's as if it's moving south. What's worse is the Nuclear plant (maybe just rumors from people around me) is now reporting a leak! Officially on the news, I haven't heard it's leaking, only that it's an emergency. The phone lines are really jumbled, so calling now is difficult. But we stocked up on some food supplies, and our power/water still works. Thanks for thinking of me. I can't wait to get back to the US (US is always home to me).
