Get TOR browser, or a proxy and use the BBC Iplayer.

Really, that is your only option besides either torrents or TV. The Iplayer won't be in HD though.

man this is last season all over again, RB racing is a full second ahead of the pack. McLaren seemed strong but I expected this, they always tend to play down that they are slow and then pull a crazy lap.

Ferrari wtf? PETROV, double wtf?!?

Ferrari and Alonso need to pull it together..

107% rule is bad for struggling F1 teams, get rid of it..

It will be a RB racing 1,2 tomorrow..

The 107% rule is for safety. Think slow cars on the highway as the reason speed limits are still so low. Modern cars can go faster while maintaining safety but when you put in the slower moving vehicles it becomes much more dangerous. Also, if you can't make the 107% on a short lap like Melbourne thenyour are doomed for some of the longer tracks like Spa. Its also a form of quality control.

Petrov was a huge surprise. He performed very well, definitely more deserving of his position. Also, Perez and Sauber in general did fantastic. If not Renault, then it looks like Sauber will be the dark horse this year for the top teams.

Winter testing is testing. Where you have the chance to try things that might not really work out without any significant consequences.. well aside from the Media getting up in your grill about it I guess.
I recall Martin Brundle stated the new McLaren is garbage or something. And now what...P2 and P4...not too bad...

I like Speed's analysis on how Mclaren's approach on the new season. That they took the 2010 MP4-25 and test the Pirelli with it. which the only "unknown variables" will be the tires.

Then later in the Winter testing, they finally rolled out the MP4-26, which tires are no longer an "unknown variable", so the team and engineers can pin point exactly where to improve in the new chassis. Now think back...it all make sense.

Funny to see Hamilton shaking his head and Weber sitting there stone faced after hearing Vettel set his pole lap without using KERS.

I honestly wonder if the journalist that asked the question just got his facts wrong and mixed up Hamilton and Vettel? Since Christian Horner said nothing about the lack of KERS when asked about Vettel and Webber. Whitmarsh also confirmed no KERS for Hamilton just before the interview.

I really think this was probably more what happened, and Vettel didn't correct him just to not look like a dick on TV.

To be honest the mclaren got damn lucky their update has worked so well... in reality they have effectively stolen the red bull & ferrari exhaust exit/blown diffuser design.

BTW the red bull kers system isn't broken it has been specifically designed in a way that they don't operate it in qualifying. The speculation is that it is a smaller less complicated system designed for use solely at the start.

I'm curious where this information is coming from. I've seen nothing towards the end of actually explaining the mechanics behind either exhaust McLaren has used. Either their simple new system or the complex earlier version they chucked.

Do you have any links to the sources?

One of the bbc broadcasts said that mclaren had switched to a system similar to red bull/ferrari which is where I am getting my info on.

here is their old "complicated" system:

here is the ferrari/red bull system:

More info on both is at http://scarbsf1.wordpress.com/2011/0...and-diffusers/

First thing when they SPEED talked about the updates (the new diffusor McLaren brought to Melbourne)...I was thinking British and German GP last year in 2010....McLaren brought the blown diffusor to Friday Practice, but none of the time worked and they almost went to race with zero upgrades....

I just turned on Speed and they introduced James Allen doing the post qualifying interview. I didn't know he was still hosting. This was a nice surprise.

James Allen is still very involved in F1. I don't think he's associated with SPEED. Its just one representative FOM picked from the reporters to ask questions for the first 10 mins or so...

Before we have the ones from BBC, SPEED or ITV....

I don't think America can watch anything at all without the commercials to pay for Bernie's high broadcasting fee...

something is still better than nothing....

This is true. However the general knowledge of the commentators also seems to be significantly lower than ours.
I guess it will always be a bigger thing back in england!

Not a bad race though, i hope it doesnt become boring having red bull out in front!.

Congrats to petrov!

I agree on the BBC coverage. Definitely more insightful. I swear one of the Speed announcers called it KERVS at one point.

Not a bad result from this race. I think we have some interesting races to come with the enhancements. Petrov was a big surprise and he was able to bring it home. So well done to him again. Perez was also on fire.

If Heidfeld doesn't work out in a few races for Renault, I wonder if they will give the drive to Senna for a few. It would be nice to see what he could do with a decent car.

Btw. Screw Speed for showing that Cars 2 advert right as the drivers were getting out of their cars. That should have waited til after the trophies were handed out.
