I've had three comments on the car at the gas station. Everyone loves the grill, as do I. My car is black and it doesn't stand out as a contrast like a lighter car, so that has something to do with it. For those who hate it: buy a different car, simple as that. I hate the side view of the C8, and despite liking almost everything else about the Vette, wasn't interested in buying one--even if they weren't unobtanium for a fair price. Why would you buy a car you're unhappy with from the outset? And it's pointless to keep insulting it to people who don't share your view.

I mean I do understand people who may were disappointed as they wanted a more conservative design. But really, what forces you to buy it? Just stay with the F8X then, it's still and will still be a great car. You don't always need the newest gen... |

From all the hate on the internet I expected a largely negative response to my car. I took it down to my parents to show it to them this weekend and they absolutely loved it, along with my grandparents and aunt/uncle. Monday I stopped by the neighbors and they and everyone passing by commented how much they liked the car. So far I've had a 100% positive reaction, except my mom wasn't a fan of the IOMG lol. Could they have been just being nice? Sure, but I don't think the general public finds the car unattractive. None of these people including myself are/were "BMW people" though, so I think most of the negative reaction is from BMW enthusiasts. It's a nice reality check from the forums though. I've heard nothing but how hideous it is from every review, forum post, etc while waiting for the car but out in the real world it's been nothing but thumbs up and people taking pics and positive comments.

People love my car and I love my car. These people need a life. Instead of bitching about a grill. Move on buy another brand nobody gives a fuck. |

I've had an unbelievably positive reaction to the car from the general public. Literally comments every day from young and old folks of all sorts of demographics.
The one exception was a guy at a gas station who was clearly a big car guy and he said 'how long did it take you to get over the grill'. He was clearly a hater driving a POS but had to get his comment in to make himself feel better about his sad life. But other than that, I think the car looks futuristic compared to the older models and makes them look dated. I was beside a heavily modified F80 in traffic the other day and while it was undoubtedly a beautiful car it really looked like it was from 2015 next to mine. It looked every bit of its age |

A neighbor just got a new IS350. It was parking nose-out when I walked to the mail box and my brain did not appreciate the front...I may have had a bad thought that was then squished by feeling a bit hypocritical. oops.

I similarly saw an LC500. Looked amazing to me but it has way more going on with the grill compared to the G8x. Does the LC500 get the same kind of hate or are people used to the Lexus grill?

I've had more positive reactions to my car in the first week of ownership than 3 years with my F80, and I had a Yas Marina blue car. People have given me more thumbs up in the past week. Maybe it's the color?

I for one think the new grill makes the car look so much more aggressive than the previous generations. They've always looked super boring to me until the latest design and that's what made me pull the trigger on one. As most say looks are subjective so to each their own.

It's the guy driving the 2009 Honda Civic with $5000.00 rims. Talking shit about the grill. Take a look at their girlfriends . They should never say a word about a grill. |

Totally fine to dislike the grill (or like it) but pretty sad to feel the need to make a comment about it to an owner who clearly enjoys it and sunk the money into it.

I remember when they dropped the F30 design, and it looked like someone sat on the front end it squished it down. Now all of us M enthusiasts love it.
I HATED the G80 grill when it was revealed. I really disliked it a month ago. Then I saw this image on instagram and it, slowly, swayed my mind. I suddenly got it. It made sense. It's a natural progression while still pushing the envelope of design. I put an order in for a 6MT. Give me an allocation! |
