Here's a favorite song of mine from the album. If 6 Was 9: Don't mind the Spanish subtitles. It's hard to find any Jimi songs to post because of copyrights so this will have to do. Sounds great, though, and that should be all that matters. |

Two downtempo songs by slam poet Ursula Rucker. Cool stuff.
Richard Earnshaw feat. Roy Ayers & Ursula Rucker - "Rise" (2010) Plot: "We are living in perilous times with perilous people doing some perilous things to one another - Uplift - Rise - Tolerance, knowledge, compassion" Ursula Rucker - "Circe (Jazzanova Mix)" (1999) Plot: strong mythical woman meets her match and is blown away by the encounter with the mystery man

Oh yes, I always liked that song. Know the "Nothing Like The Sun" album by heart. My favorite track of it remains "Be Still My Beating Heart", with the fade-in, warm synth pads and excellent lyrics describing emotional turmoil about either a broken relationship or a relationship that didn't materialize (rejection).
Sting - "Be Still My Beating Heart" (1987):

Background info: https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/jimi-he...n-dick-cavett/ ("Hendrix cunningly decided to use the music’s own bombastic nature to project the violence carried out under his nation’s flag. He managed to do this by holding a keynote longer than he usually would and also applied a little more pressure to his Stratocaster’s tremolo bar which then created an unsettling effect. With a guitar in his hands, he was more effective than his words could ever be. He then stopped playing the song in its original form and just turned the lyrics about bombs bursting in air and rockets lighting up the night into music." )

Yes, that is also a track I really like. I think "Nothing Like The Sun" was his best album by far. I also think I remember when I was a bit nerdy about CD recordings, and I'm sure you remember this as well, but the CD cases would always indicate the type of audio recording it was. They used to designate a fully digital recording as "DDD" meaning a digital tape recorder was used in the recording process. The entirety of the recording was done digitally. Basically speaking it was the best quality recording possible for a standard CD. I specifically remember how Sting's albums were almost always DDD meaning they sounded great. Compared to AAD (Analog tape recorder), it was a step up. ![]() |

One of the first DDD was the excellent "Brothers In Arms" album by Dire Straits. I remember that when a music shop demonstrated a rig, they usually played a track of that album because of its sonic qualities. Dire Straits - "Ride Across The River" (1985) Check from 04:20 onwards: Dire Straits - "Why Worry ?" (1985): Check from 04:25 onwards:

This is another track from an electronic music (deep house) duo out of NYC that I really like. They have a unique sound to them IMO. I've posted up a few of their songs in the recent past and this is one more.
It's an interesting one as it gives me both a feeling of happiness and melancholy at the same time which is unusual and I can't quite put a finger on it. I enjoy it tremendously. It's soothing and brilliantly produced. You have to let it play out a bit before it hits its stride around the 1:03 mark. This record label "Balkan Connection" based in Serbia is fantastic. |

Late Night Alumni, one of my favorite sort of lounge style music artists out of SF. Kaskade of course has his imprints all over this band.
Something about the vocalist's voice. This track's high point is hit at the 2:16 mark. Pulling me up out of my minor key. Falling away, singing in the mess I’d made. Oh happy day, if we’re all souls inside of bodies. Your musical face, smiling all the things you know. |
