This evening is the Sor Ugo. The bottle pictured is not the bottle I opened, but one signed by the owner of the vineyard. Saving that bottle for a long while.

I received this from Mrs H today. It does a great job of aerating, but can become too top heavy and tilt, which causes the downspout to also point outside of the decanter’s mouth. Luckily I caught it quickly, and only lost a little wine. My son has a rather entertaining video.

Moral of the story, if you get one of these, pour slowly.

Found on bottom rack of my wine cooler. Vintage 1995 and praying that it’s still alive. It’s been properly stored save two moves. Have a 2017 Stags Leap as a backup for a quiet NY Eve dinner.

I bought a case of ‘95 futures while touring the winery. I think it was $85/bottle way back then. One always overpays at the source. Don’t recall what year I actually received it but consumed the case (save this one)over about 10 years as I like to drink one per year or so to see how it matures. This one’s obviously quite mature.
My wife just told me we are having homemade clam chowder, salad and bread for NY Eve dinner. I gotta drink this wine with some meat so will do some ribeyes tomorrow.

Mrs H reminded me it was New Years Eve, and the night was still young. Since we enjoyed the first bottle so much with dinner, we decided to compare it to a different vintage. Letting it breathe for a while yet, but I’m excited.
