In this case it's not BMW, there are tons of people out at the Nürburgring taking spy shots and videos of mules. The G87 is in its final stages of testing so we'll start see it more often now. You'll also slowly start to see the camo come off leading up to the reveal.

Problem with that… the tail lights do not always get the LCI treatment. Hope I am wrong as I dislike the tail lights on the G42 and the G05 which has an LCI coming soon.

Most of the time LCI includes new tails

Totally agree with you that the light bar may be 100% the same, but the turn signal isn't a light bar at all… which leaves open the possibility of a different light altogether. Probably some wishful thinking in there too.

I saw the video and from what I deduce, a majority of the turn signal "light bar" is cropped out by camouflage but it's more or less the same taillight design as the G42.

And common sense will dictate that on a lower production vehicle like the M2, they have zero reason to add resources in revising the taillight, being that the M2 is merely a souped-up version of the 2 Series.

Some folks are also claiming that the headlight are unique to the G87 but there is no precedent for any standard M car having bespoke headlights (other the M5 CS yellow DRL), so knowing how BMW gets down, I have to see it to believe it.

Like you mentioned the M5 CS had revised DRL'S and the F82 M4 CS/GTS had OLED taillights so there are a couple instances of lower production vehicles getting a special touch. BMW has also devoted more resources into lighting lately as a number of new models have a "shadowline" lighting option.

That being said, again this is just wishful thinking on my end.

That rear spoiler is very E36, I like it.

I feel like the G87 w/ 6MT is already a winner, and would make a great compliment to my G80 xDrive

Yup, all but confirmed that front and rear lights will be the same. Now the only question is whether or not the M2 will get the awful gloss black around the entire bottom of the car that we've seen on the M240 and M3/M4. It doesn't seem that way given the look of the front and rear bumpers and that there isn't an obvious cutoff point, so fingers crossed it's all one body color!

This G87 generation will be one of the best M car IMO, and probably last one as well. With S58, shorter wheel base, rwd, and six speed, it is definition of drivers car. So far I like everything I see, except these crazy ass MP parts. The hip looks like same width as 911, I love it.
