I felt this was very “as per my last email”-ish, but I’ll accept it because it was quite helpful lmao

Wait till you see how some others here give “helpful” suggestions that include gifs and all manner of blowhardness. I was actually trying to spare us all that while helping the next customer get to the meat and potatoes.Glad I provided a chuckle nonetheless.

My build date quietly just pushed back from week 17 to 25. Has carbon pack.

I’ve got the carbon pack spec’d and I went from 18 to 25.

If BMW ups the price for MY24, are those unlucky enough to not get an allocation and completed build by then going to be on the hook for the price bump?

My understanding is that if your alloc is put into the order bank as MY24, then yes you get MY24 MSRP, and also your available options may be different.

I mean, this is somewhat academic, as the price you ACTUALLY pay is a contract between you and your dealer. They could charge you MSRP, or more, or less (lol not really). The contract is what matters.

So do you have paperwork, signed by both you and the dealer, with a price on it? Are you in the order bank? etc. (I rather assume not if you think you missed MY23.)

Yeah I have been in the order bank since like the second or third day it was possible last year (#2 at my dealer.) Hopefully I get one before then but who knows at this point. I'd be surprised if BMW didn't bump the prices going into MY24. Ford just did for the next Mustang.

I believe if you are in the order bank for a MY23 with no allocation and production of MY23 ends and they switch to production for MY24, your place in line holds but you will pay MY24 pricing.

Wow, sorry. I put my order in the bank on day 1 (I dropped my deposit last Feb), got #1 in line, and my car is built and on the docks. I feel bad that you did basically the same thing and are still waiting. Condolences.

Rx-7ames What happens if an order in the bank doesn't get an alloc in the current MY? Do they roll it into next year, or do they cancel it?

And if they changed any options, I assume you'd have to go through the configurator again, too? Basically start over.

It does not automatically roll over. The dealership has to manually submit another order for MY 24. Your spot should be held in line though.

Correct, you need to do a new build sheet (which you will be able to see any changes from the prior year's options and also see what pricing may have changed).

Most dealers will absolutely put you on the hook for new MY pricing. This happened to us while while waiting for an 22 X3 m40i allocation. We had signed paperwork, in the order bank, etc but they wouldn't budge.

We eventually walked away for that and other reasons. Really hoping it doesn't happen with my M2 order, I'm currently number 2 soooo

Absolutely. If price goes up for MY24, you pay MY 24 MSRP. That's why I don't understand people hoping for a MY24. It makes no sense.

Some think there will be more/different/better color choices.

I'd be in for that. It really pisses me off when they reduce a color palate to just a few shades. (That are frankly, a little weird)

I had an E46 M3 in StahlGrau and would have salivated to have the M2 in that color. (I see the new M3 as a homage to my ol' E46, and would have liked some classic color choices)

ID 8.5 or at least the necessary HD to later accomplish the OTA update to it and hopefully additional colors. A trivial 3-4% increase would be worth it if those actually materialize.

Would it though? What does iDrive do that my iPhone with CarPlay doesn't? Besides leaving me stuck with a $250/yr subscription. Lol.

I also would be sad to lose the iDrive controller. Not a deal breaker but would rather not pay more to get less - there's nothing in 8.5 that would make me want to wait for a MY24.

Per Car & Driver, "For models that currently have iDrive 8, the revised infotainment software will be available via production or an over-the-air (OTA) update."

Doubtful the controller will go away as a mid-cycle update. Long term though I think it's gone.
