This is a tribute to the AF of the Sony a9. This killdeer was flying close and erratic, when I had my a9 mounted on my 560mm rig. I could barely get the bird in the EVF and often I'd see a blur, but still activate AF. I didn't think that I had anything, but when I got home there were five nice flight images (out of about 100). I was using all 693-AF points, in the Tracking mode.

Not the usual photo for me, or this thread, but possibly my favorite I've taken: my new daughter.

Congratulations on the new lens - - - looks like a keeper. If I didn't already own the 100-400mm, I would have this one instead. For my next long lens, I'm holding out for the upcoming Sony 500mm f/4.

Yes, Looking Glass is my go to store. That is their counter in the lens photo above. I've been going there since they were in their old store up on College.

What rumors would have you change from the R4? I'm typically in the Hasselblad/mamiya camp, but have shot Nikon for over a decade. Have owned an a6500 for about 18 months but found the menus/UI tragically awkward. Bought a Nikon Z6 and Z7 to explore mirrorless and have been super impressed with the image quality. No need to spend $40K on the MF really, as I'm not doing it professionally anymore, but to think you can get close for 10% of the cost? Wow

As a wildlife and bird shooter, I would be very interested in a high performance APS-C body. I would probably get more use out of that than the hi res of the R-IV, which I plan to use mostly in crop mode to begin with.

Thanks BayAreaBimmers for directing me to this thread. So many great photos to view.
Here's one of mine from last week's long drive to Norris Geyser Basin at Yellowstone National Park. |

You got it — figured, after seeing some of your G05 shots and the fact you'd said most pictures weren't of your car, you'd enjoy it here
