Actually despite the look on that cats face he was a good natured cat. But all our cats act as if we are performing surgery on them when we clip their nails. And find the darn nails under all their fur is a PITA. Then giving them medicine. Now that is always fun. |

Dogs would often wag their tail during temping. Not cats! Murf PS: I think Hill's® Prescription Diet® a/d® Canine/Feline was the best food for getting cats to swallow a pill, if that's a possibility. It's sort of like bacon fat! Last edited by Littlebear; 04-14-2020 at 11:34 AM.. |

Pills just don't work. Our vet mixes the stuff in a suspension with flavor and we can either mix it with food or squirt it down their throats. They always forgive us - eventually.

Pill-shooter for the win! Much better than trying to put it in butter; I can dose our cat solo if I wrap her up in a towel (about 80% success first try).
And make sure when you clip nails you are going top-to-bottom. Side to side is very painful for them - I really regret not knowing this for several years w/ our first cat, and things went much better after I wised up. |

I was going to the store real quick while mrs beef was taking the dogs for a walk and they hopped right in my smart car. It would have been a little crowded.

So if you decide that you are responsible enough to own a pet.....make sure you think it through and make sure you are dedicated.
My wife volunteers at some of our local rescue places. Someone's neighbor just outright abandoned their dog. Now it was picked up pretty quickly by another person when word got out...but it pisses me off. I would have loved to had a word with them!! But remember......if you don't look after our friends, John Wick will come and see you...or maybe even someone else. **Rant Over**

As you know, GSDs don't always trust others; that's part of what they were bred for. But I bet they trust you and yours! I have no good pics of GSDs, but below are Shiloh Shepherds, a long-haired variant being developed near Binghamton, NY. Murf Last edited by Littlebear; 04-16-2020 at 12:51 PM.. |

I was looking through pics and came across this old one of Beaux. He was about 4 months old. The 2 in the background were my moms.
The 2nd photo is of him at 16.5. The 27th of this month will be a year since we lost him. Love seeing all the pets! |

Little stud is growing up quick - 10 months old 80+lbs
And my little princess... And I may have added a few guys to my tank - as I go through my 3rd major rebuild on this in 15 years. For reference: Clown Fish on the right I've had for 18+ years - were two of the first fish I bought Yellow Tang on left, I've had for 16+ years. Orange dwarf Angel in the middle top (and scopas swimming in the back) - 8 years come May I'll leave the fishtank for another thread though.

Just got this pic, not too good, but one of my favorite "couples", Max & ...whats-his-name (Jonathan. He gives biscuits to all the dogs).

the first foster was cool. mature dog, but not a senior dog. good manners, went home in about a week. second foster was aggressive with marcus from the start and we would need to be able to leave the dogs alone for a few hours a day to make it work. so she had to go back to the kennel. third foster had giardia (bad, very contagious diarrhea). back to the kennel the same day. fourth foster just had puppies and bled on stuff on occasion. went home in about a week. fifth foster was the best one we had (we would have kept him if we didn't already have two). big guy with a good heart. neighbors down the street ended up adopting him. with our work schedules, three dogs was just too much work. potty and feeding time becomes a herding situation. it felt like we were running a farm. and it was always a crapshoot if the newcomer was house trained. lol shepherds are very smart, but the tv remote still had dimples in it as well as my sandals if i forgot to put them up. what you could do, if you're interested- is volunteer at a local rescue. they need people to walk dogs, represent the rescue at local adoption events, and other stuff. my wife doesn't really have any hobbies, so once we agreed to no longer foster, she spends more time reviewing applications, conducts home visits of potential applicants, returning email inquiries, and phone consultations. she has also made several close friends through the rescue and they meet up and walk their own dogs and stuff like that. so her volunteer time has led to friendships and networking on top of helping the animals- very rewarding.
