True, they always update the lights on LCI models, sometimes modestly and other times more drastic changes. My biggest gripe with the lights though is they look too small on such a wide car. LCI updates only change the lens shading and lighting, but not the actual shape of the lights.

Very astute observation. After seeing this I'm all but convinced it's not getting new headlights after all.

This was pretty much a given; there was absolutely no reason for them to invest in revising the headlights and taillights exclusively for the G87. A vehicle with such a low take rate and a relatively standard MSRP.

The economies of scale dictate that they have to get their money's worth from the equipment they've already engineered and certified for the current 2 Series chassis.

However, somewhere down the line, I expect the G42/87 to have a laser light option but I doubt it will be for the initial run.. More than likely that will be an LCI offering..

Yes, I don't disagree. I just factored in the different front bumper design and it being the M divisions 50yr anniversary that maybe, just maybe they would put on different headlights. I even thought they might just take existing lights from a different model instead of making bespoke ones for the G87. Never crossed my mind that they could have a different bumper shape for the lights and just put vents there, that was a curve ball. The vents on the M2 CS Racing look really cool, albeit they are in the bumper. I hope they look good on the G87.

I'm sure it will look fine, relative to BMW's current design language and more than likely the vents will be functional.. Possibly some sort of ram air to the intake box, with a perforated elbow piping to deflect water buildup. Smart engineering, if this is indeed the case.

No risk of catching fire and sink near the Azores. Ask Porsche.

This wing harkens back to the e36 m3 days. I love it. This car is going to be awesome.

If you don't mind it being slower on the straight & on track, then all the power to you!

50-90lbs doesn't make or break it for me. My M2 weights 3390lbs and a stock M2 comp is about 3500lbs or more. I don't think most people notice the difference unless you're on the track (maybe you'd notice I suppose). If you're on the track there are probably better cars out there anyways (corvette, Porsche, etc)

The M2 is once again being held back from its full potential. No surprise from BMW but yet again the M3 is the bigger and better brother to the M2.

I don't personally see it that way

RWD gives the M2 it's unique character

Thank you.

Gotta be a funny conversation the guys that handle camouflaging these cars go through.

Franz: Hey Steve, how about today we show them a little bit more today?
Steve: How about take off another 2-3 inches near the headlights?
Franz: LET'S DO IT!

Like how is this decided?

It certainly doesn't have to be xDrive only. There should be the option for the RWD auto and the manual just like the M3. You can also get the xDrive and still have the 10 stage traction control for the RWD setting as well.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that BMW decided to give the M2 most of the love from the M4 (interior, carbon roof, etc) from what the speculations have been telling us thus far. I just don't like that they held off from what is my favorite part of the car.

I disagree. It's going to meet it's full potential as a RWD hooligan.

That latest video, the driver is absolutely hauling ass on the Ring. Car looks composed but in some sections you can tell the weight, the way it lands on its bump stops.

Either way looks to be very quick, and balanced. I’m excited…

Now if they only made it in Europe as well, and bring back Euro Delivery. Wishful thinking I know.

Totally. I even look forward to the even higher version they featured on the e36 lightweight.

Someone at M finally knows what they're doing. They were hungover during the g80 design session.
