Based on the past ships, if you've seen a status update then you were loaded onto the Sunrise in Veracruz. Very likely Veracruz port became full, and other cars went to Altamira. If you make the Sunrise from Altamira, expect to see a status update a few days after departure from Altamira. This is what happened with the original Cardinal vessel from Sept. Hope is not lost yet for those still waiting for updates.

Week 42 (10/20 build), RFT since 10/23. Probably just missed the ship. Hopefully I’ll have a nice Christmas delivery!

From what I've seen, this is consistent with almost everyone's experience from Mexico to the East Coast this year. They sit in RFT the entire time until they're on a ship, and then once you're on a ship, it just cycles through the statuses until you're In Transit. In fact, Awaiting Carrier is supposed to be the truck from the Mexican plant to the departure port (I.e. it's not the status for waiting for a vessel). Also, each time the vessel reaches a new port, it will go backward to At The Port until it's done and then back to In Transit and on to the next port, which gets a little counter-intuitive because your status shouldn't go backward.

BMW really needs to firm up its tracker status.

Ha. Honestly I was in RFT for a pretty short time before I caught a boat, so maybe some karma. I am mostly just hoping it is the trucking optimization and not damage or something.


The worst torture was taking an Uber from Newark to downtown Manhattan and driving right past the port/car after it had already been sitting there 2 plus weeks!

Hopefully others getting loaded hopefully some of the 10/18 guys like myself. Does anybody know when the next ship after sunrise is?

Starting to accept that a 2024 delivery might just be the way it is which is sad considering I haven’t had a car since beginning of August while I’ve been waiting for something similar to my spec or my order come in.

also 10/18. its funny because i was originally told by CA around new years. then suddenly there was hope it would be earlier; now we are back at new years. oh well

I was talking to my CA 2 weeks ago when he showed me another vehicle that came in he was saying to me around Thanksgiving! My original prediction was going to be that it came in right before but from seeing other schedules doesn’t look like it will be here till right before new years which will mean at that point just waiting till the new year.

I think you should be safe - I suspect most people (assuming no port installed options) should have their cars within 30 days which I believe is the time for most pre-approvals and such. BMW Financial is 90 days if what my CA says is true (I got my approval once my car was complete because I didn't think it would sit in mexico for 33 days) and he said it was 90 days.

I got my loan pre-approval with my CU this morning so already got that ball rolling.

The dealer just told me it would arrive in the US on the 14th - end-of-month delivery, so I think it's time to get that ball rolling.
