Hesitating between paying 3500,- for MP HAS with warranty, or going KW HAS for 1200,- at my tuner but losing warranty.

Also still don’t have an answer from my dealer if going max lowered on MP HAS (meaning more than the recommended 10mm) cause any issue with the warranty.
If yes, maybe KW HAS is the best route.
Still some more room to go if wanting to go lower. Note that KW manufactures the MP HAS kit.

I have yet to see BMW void a warranty for a HAS kit, but every situation is different.

The opportunity for a warranty issue only presents itself by visiting the dealer with mods. It seems you already have an existing relationship with your tuner, why bother going to BMW at all, unless it's a significant warranty claim? Most times, situations can be handled by an independent or tuner shop for less money and at most times - even better service. Otherwise, stick with the BMW HAS or wait to mod after the warranty has lapsed.

Hi Tom, Many thanks for your answer !

You’re right but I am a little bit freaky on those things haha.
Thing is that even if I do the mods after delivery, in Luxembourg we have to put them on the car title, and If I go to BMW for an issue even with the stock spring back on it, they will see the mods on the car title.
That’s why we’re kind of f*cked here 😂

But yes I agree that if there is any issue on the suspension, I would be able to handle it with my tuner.
Have still some time to think about that, but this add a rock to the building.

I’m sad I’m not in the USA sometimes … 🙃

I would have to search for it but someone did post that they were denied a suspension related warranty repair due to the HAS installation done by a third party.

Not sure if you're referring to a KW or BMW M-Performance kit, but BMW HAS is still covered by BMW warranty if installed by 3rd party (minus labor).

Yes, I know the part itself is covered but what someone posted was they had an issue on a suspension part (not the HAS) and BMW didn't cover the repair because BMW didn't install the HAS. In a sense, they treated the car as the suspension was modded which voided the warranty coverage. Caveat, repeating what was posted and do not have direct first hand knowledge.

With that being said, if you had the HAS and third party installed, and had to pay for labor to R&R, it makes the $2,820 with 4/40k coverage sound that much better.

I agree, I don't know the brand of HAS that was installed, what specific damage was caused and if the damage was caused by product failure or improper installation. Then again, I wouldn't recommend bringing modded cars to BMW dealers to diagnose.

Most BMW Performance parts have a 2-year warranty. For example, if the kit was a BMW M-Performance kit installed by a tuner that caused the damage by improper installation, then BMW shouldn't have to eat the repair, it should be handed by the installer. If the kit failed in some form or fashion (ie: an adjustment collar cracked), then it's a justifiable claim for BMW to handle, but labor portion wouldn't be covered.

All modding carries some sort of risk. If the nerves aren't prepared for that - best to leave it stock.

Not sure about other countries, but here in Germany, that 3rd Party needs to be a BMW approved workshop, and they need to sign a statement that BMW provides, saying they will basically accept responsibility for installation in case of a warranty claim. Good luck getting your average tuner here to do that. Reason #358 why I'm going with KW HAS.

Looks soooo good! Nice to see someone going with a deeper lip design fitment!

Do you have a dealer in Germany not bothered with your KW HAS ?

Also have you passed the TUV with the KW, and if yes with which spacers ?

Thanks !!

For those with the M performance HAS… are they noisy? I had mine installed 2 days ago and now my front end it making noise that is not normal… it is a popping sound after bumps.

Also steering feels more vague

I haven't gotten my M2 yet (either next week or end of the month, depending on my travel plans). But I HAVE exhaustively weighed the options with MP HAS vs KW HAS. It basically came down to cost. The actual parts for the MP HAS were appropriate, it was the INSTALL that made no sense to me. They're quoting 10 hours of labor on the G87 vs 4-5 on the G80/81/82/83. Makes no sense to me. As such, the installation cost of over 2000 Euros just didn't make sense to me. At that price, I'd rather get the KW HAS installed by a reputable tuner for under 1500 Euro (parts & install w/ alignment). The dealer told me that obviously if issues arise from the KW HAS (or spacers, for that matter), then I'd have to deal with those without any warranty coverage. Such is the case with most mods. BUT: If you don't trust your parts, don't install them.

As for TÜV, it shouldn't be an issue, as the KW HAS has certification. The spacers I plan to use are H&R (most likely 15F/18R), as they also have certifications. I will either have the HAS registered together or separately from the spacers I plan on installing, depending on what makes more sense. Sometimes, the TÜV agent likes it all together, other times it's easier to get them to register it separately.

I have not noticed any strange noises or pops. Normally, I would have clicks when I ran coilovers on my 350Z but those sounds are not present on my current G87 on KW HAS. The steering is def not vague at all. I would recommend having them checked out.
