I guess we are talking about different things. The original question was that MT and AT differ from factory with a rock guard. I was trying to show a picture that my AT came with the black rock guard as well.

I just ordered the one from the M4 part number on this thread. I will update how it goes. Should be ok since it’s same S58. But never know for sure.

Okay, so I went to try this (on the ground not on a lift). I must be missing something because I could not get them in from the front.

Did you just force it? Or did you undo some body work and slip behind or something?

What do you guys think, yay or nay?

It's just on top inserted under the cooler so i can easily take it out. I don't know if this will work for auto equip m2's.
can you confrim the part number?

Not OEM, via Amazon. You have to do some measurements and trimmings.

So part number listed in this post for the M4 is larger sized. I still tried to see if it would fit and did but had to take the zip tie route. Can’t really tell if you look up close even. Prefered this one than aftermarket one.

All G8x models use the same PN for guards.

Hi Dbimmer, did you install it without removing the bumper? I tried to squeeze it in but I could not. Do you have any instructions or some ideas? Thank you!

No. Unfortunately I had to remove it or most of it to get space to get it in. Only left one of the sides on the wheel well on. After getting the screen in I installed it back and got the screen tied in place with the space available. Didn’t seem worthwhile to remove the whole thing

If BMW was smart they would offer their own accessory to fix their original design. This way they could nake money off their mistake.

Is your ride a ZF8 or an MT? Do you know whether the no-bumper-removal install would be the same for either? Thanks.

Got me an ABS honey comb sheet off amazon which I cut to fit and secured with zip ties behind the trim piece so you can’t even see the zip ties at all.

Looks OEM and it clears my ACC module so that’s all I cared about.

EDIT: If you zoom into the pic you can see there are even whole leaves stuck behind the guard.
Yep! I’ve had my MT for one month, one road trip and leaves wedged and somehow sandwiched behind the grill just like your photo!

What I don't get about the large plastic mesh pieces people use is the obvious opportunity for small rocks to bang up the fins along side the fact that something bigger, with enough mass to do real damage will likely make it through plastic?

Not knocking anyone's solution, just curious what the thinking is.

It's the same thinking as the OEM front grill. This is off the M8.

Ordered 17119882366 from ECS. It looks like it's the smaller size and I'm praying I can just slide it in.
