Dodge Confirms Next Charger and Challenger to be All-Electric

Confirmed: Next-Gen Dodge Charger, Challenger Will Be Electric Only

"The story is incorrect," said the spokesperson. "The Hemi in that platform, as well as that platform, are going away. The next generation will be BEV."

Also, it will probably take the industry many years to convert everything to electric. We will be ok.

I have a feeling Dodge is trying to save face by disputing the other report that the V8 will live on. They did not want that information to leak so soon.

I find it very hard to believe that Dodge would do away with ICE entirely this soon. There is a major lack of EV charging infrastructure, high prices of EVs, and strong desire from muscle car customers to have vroom noises.

Let's be real here, the majority of people who buy Challengers aren't earning the type of income needed to buy the average EV on the market. Plus, Challengers are sold heavily to fleets. EV-only with no ICE option for the Challenger sounds incompatible.

Looking at who is actually buying new cars though, is infrastructure that much of a problem? We generally aren't talking about someone that doesn't make enough money to buy a 40k car, most cars with options are pushing that now just for the "base" stuff and 50k seems even closer to the norm, especially when you consider SUVs and trucks. And then these people either have their own houses with the infrastructure, or newer apartments and the actual plug ins. Not that we don't need more infrastructure for this...but this is strictly about selling new vehicles and I'd be really curious to know for what % of people buying new that this is really an issue. I'd wager it is probably pretty small. That could be their error...or they could reap the reward. Going to have to see...but every person I've known that has gotten a car in the last couple years could easily support it, so I have to wonder if that doesn't play into it...actual demographic of new-car buyers...

You're being fake and your brush is too broad. You also do not understand the MOPAR or no car crowd. It's real & huge.

I can afford a lot more than my Hellcat. I daily it because I enjoy it. Would love a CT5-V Blackwing to replace it, only car I'd replace it with today, but $100k for the BW? No!

Bro the flagship Hellcat, Demon etc make up a very small percentage of Challenger sales overall. The overwhelming majority of Challenger buyers do not have the disposable income for a $60k+ car.
