I agree w a lot of others on here. Disappointed and was super hyped for this car.
Reality is I find most of BMW's line up pretty unattractive anymore. They have the best drivetrains tho and I'm sure the M2 will be an awesome performer. I'm just not a person who doesn't care about looks. Can have both looks and performance all at once

Waiting for the final reveal but frustrated how the recent M cars look. I passed up on the G8X because the front end didn't feel right for a dream car (dream car for me at least) and now the G87 might have a similar issue with the rear end. I shouldn't be forced buy a black M car to hide its design, it should be the opposite. I should be picking a color highlighting the body lines. Still holding out a small hope for final reveal with other colors looking significantly better...

It's fun and easy to be sensational and say "what is BMW thinking?!?!?! To hell with them!!"
Overall I don't think the car looks good, but I can see positives in it. It's unfortunate for BMW that it's seen as the successor for the F87 which has/had a phenomenal design. If the F87 never existed and the G87 were the first M2, I think we'd still see criticism of it but less than we're seeing now. I really want to see the car in a different color than the pale blue the leaks are in. I'm excited to see official Toronto red reveal. I think it'll help me like it more, but there still some fundamental questionable design choices. And of course this is all aesthetic. I'm sure it'll drive well and people will love to say how it performs better than the F87. |

All it needed was a proper camera and someone who knows how to use it. Now we’re talking. Love it.

Definitely feel good. Looks the the new M Performance parts are a miss though. . . . I'll likely try to get an early LCI model when those come out. Excited to see what people do to these once they start unlocking DME's.

It's not perfect but in Toronto Red it looks kind of striking IMO. Seems like a modern take on the E30 M3 with all the chiseled angles.

Keep looking at the rear and hopefully I will end up liking it just as I did with G80s front. I am all about driving dynamics. So bring it on. Now I am thinking what should a get for daily to haul kids lol. Maybe pre-owned 7 series, S class or LS.

It's growing on me. I've had 3 M cars in the past and I am #2 on the list at the local dealer and my sister is #2 at her local dealer as well.
I am going to see it on Saturday so hopefully it looks better in person. I am looking to sell my Taycan and get this or a CT4V Blackwing. Pros and cons for both. |

I've not sold on it entirely yet but I'm yet to see it in person. I felt the same about the G80.
People I know that have seen it in person say it looks a lot better in person, similar the G42 we have.

Love your G42. I'm sure you guys can make the G87 look insanely good, question is...what color are you choosing?

I was horrified when I first saw the leaked bumpers many months ago. Felt somewhat better when the camo'd prototype reviews were released, but then back to horrified when the ZB pics started showing up. Have to admit it looks much better in this red color and with proper photos.
I like the stance and overall shape of the car, esp. from the front 3/4 view. The added length makes the greenhouse look a bit smaller and sleeker than the F87. It's the details that I still find odd. When I look at the front, it looks like it got punched in the face. The flat grill makes me think of a flattened nose and the busy-ness of the intake bring to mind missing teeth . And I can't unsee the barbell/wrench on the back that several other posters have mentioned. I don't get the need for the "vents" under the headlights. Going to pass on this version and hang on to my CS, but still curious about future LCI/Comp/CS variants. |
