I've always seen the styling of the 2 series as bit girly and oddly proportioned for my tastes, until the G87. This photo is a good example. The G87 looks mean and muscular while the F87 looks like its wearing lipstick and ready to go get a manicure to me.

While some people are put off by the blocky design, it makes a lot more sense to my eyes than the lines of any previous modern two series. Even the new G42's have a front facia that doesn't make a lot of sense to me as compared to the more blocky M2. Small things like the way they squared off the inside corner of light housing on the G87 help bring a sense of structure and order that is pleasing to my eye. I also really like the integrated kidneys and for me it is a big factor in the feminine vs muscular look between the two designs in the picture.

We all have our preferences, and in this instance I'm glad BMW tried something different.

Wow this went off topic. Just a friendly reminder that how someone feels is an emotion that is not subject to right or wrong.

If you want to be less provocative, start your sentence with, “this is how I feel…” “my feeling only…” and you’ll get much less angry comments back.

Unless… you want to be provocative then by all means, go ahead.

I feel that both f87 and g87 are amazing. Would love to own both one day. I have a g87 on order - these pics solidify that choice!

My initial reactions on the G87 design was very negative, but I'm glad everyone that has one on order or is planning to order one is excited about their purchase.

If you can design a car that even the most average of consumer will look at and say 'wow!', then you are on to something...

If you need to be coerced and convinced to 'get used to' the design of your new and 'improved' lineup of cars, then it may be time to fire your head designers, or whoever is calling tha shots over there , cause they are sinking your ship
No one is coercing any of us. That's the beauty of democracy .... we can all have our OWN opinion. Even your wife!

I happen to love the new look. Just my 2 cents.

I think the 240 and 230 are a much better looking car, especially the front...but still would love to try one out

I’m a 240 owner and I completely disagree. I like my 240 but the G87 definitely looks better and more aggressive to me. The fake vents around the headlights, front fascia, wider body, getting rid of the gloss black bits around the rocker panels and the side of the diffuser, etc. all look better to my eyes.

I do wish they made the front lower lip body colored.

I'd give the G87 design a solid 6 out of 10. The G82 is a 1 out of 10...ehhh make that 0 out of 10.

Although not the best looking design, G87 should look better with some tasteful aftermarket help. It has potential.

I can get on board with that and I have seen the car in person, albeit in ZB. If it had been in a different color I might be able to give it a 7 or 8. An unknown for now.

I think it’ll look the way I want once I install spacers, new rims, CS style front lip, side skirts and boot lip spoiler and drop it a bit.

Largely agree.

Do the 507 and Z8 count? Z8 ain't "hot" pretty, but damn I love the way it looks. I find several Alpina models pretty pretty.

I found the Alpina Z8 to be one elegant piece of roadster kit for sure.

You're right that most ///M cars are not necessarily pretty per say, but to me personally, pretty much every ///M car in the past has at least looked good. Not saying they're perfect by any means, but the new M2 is not a car that I'd necessarily want to been seen in. Now an E92 M3 on the other hand...

OT, but a reality. Your F15 is a much more attractive vehicle than the current G05. It is just the way things are at BMW anymore. Hopefully the G05’s LCI resolves the many faults that I have with the pre-LCI design. The interior of the G05 is a significant improvement over the F15 though. The F15 was simply an extension of the E70 as they shared countless things. FYI, The G05 LCI arrives 04.23.

I find very few things (if any) to complain about how the E46 M3 looks

I would definitely agree with you there. Not sure why they're heading in that direction. And that's definitely true for the LCI. Pretty much every LCI is much better than what came before it. Those are the cars to buy
