I’m screwed cause even after all these years I can’t get excited about the G80/2. I do like the G87 though, very cool looking car. The main issue is the speed limit bongs, mandatory lane assist etc, and that screen which ill never ever grow to love. Like the poster above I don’t want to “hey bmw” to my car like an idiot. I want to get in, fire it up, press my M1 button and go. I’m still in my 30’s and love tech, just not in cars

Hydrogen fuel cell has a loooooong way to go for passenger cars. They're basically just EREVs that you have to still fill up at a "gas" station with a specialized fuel. I'd much rather see hydrogen ICE if anything, but that's even further out if it's viable at all.

Toyota's been trying it for over a decade, but Shell just closed all their hydrogen stations in CA. Hydrogen might be useful for heavier duty commercial vehicles but I don't see it happening anytime soon for passenger cars. Not saying it won't happen ever, but I don't see it even in the near or mid-term.

But, this is tangential anyway - I would love to see the opinions on a thread announcing a FCEV M3 lol.

I don’t see the reason to hate on this cause they are stil providing a hybrid option. I would have been upset if if was EV option only, but fortunately we still have 2 choices. Only thing im more worried about is the styling. The Domagoj Dukec design influences has not been too kind for bmw lately.

To be honest, the upside of BMW insisting on EVs is that I will get to keep the money that otherwise would have gone to them. No interest whatsoever in any non-ICE M cars.

Well it’s not just BMW… but there’s still going to be an ICE version of this M car at least, so you can breathe easy again.
