You may soon get a letter from BMW asking you to get an appt. at the dealer as soon as possible to have your HPFP replaced and/or the software update.

I don't understand how this validates your "Shame on ABC" comments.

And no, this probably won't harm BMW, but that is not what effected owners want. We just want a fix. Toyota was basically forced into doing a recall once their issues became public. This exposure of BMW's problems might cause the same as well. Of maybe not, but I don't what is shameful about calling out a company for a known issue that needs to be addressed.

And your last sentence about them fixing the issue eventually will be considered laughable by many here. They are not going to spend tons of money on a real fix unless they are forced to. We've seen what, six different band-aids that have done nothing - the problems remain.

This will not harm BMW in any way shape or form. Have a car brake is part of owning a car. I get a car to drive when I bring it in, car is fixed and pick it up. Pump is covered for 10 years and I expect it to brake. Lets be realistic here. I have more issues with my 09 X5 than to worry about this fuel pump issue that they will figure out sooner or later.

Toyota is doing just fine?? Toyota is still pushing product because they are offering unprecedented incentives. Camrys et al have almost NEVER been offered with 0% financing, and now they have almost all their cars with that offer. Think again.

This will be a HBS case study in corporate greed and irresponsibility. You'd think that only an American co. could be so greedy. Now they will pay--their corporate image is worth so much more than the $$$ to do what's right. But Germans have a history of not doing what's right.

I've got a scheduled service coming up anyway... looks like I'll need to book a rental.

New HPFP
New Taillight assemblies
Sqeaky ass brakes
Oil Change

Leaving the dealership, I'll now have.

New HPFP + software flash (probobly resulting in loss of power)
New Taillight assemblies (mine currently don't have problems, but they'll probobly f' something up while they are replacing them)
Squeaky ass brakes (because they can't replicate the problem)
Oil change (Where they'll dump oil all over my exhaust manifold again)

Oh, and I almost forgot... A freshly swirled up paint job that'll ruin my winter detail after they have some retard wash my car with the same wash mit he just used to clean my wheels.

Cynical yes. Do I have reason to be. Absolutely.
your squeeky brakes are just because the plastic part of the sensor is hitting the rotor. bmw has a sib for it to replace the pad and sensor.

Those of you who have gotten the software update (BMWorNOTHING, Fortbimmer, etc.), did you notice any loss of performance after the update?

Volkswagen of America has recalled about 10,000 cars in the usa for faulty mechatronic units in the DSG trans gear box due to shifting problems. These units are about $2000.00 a piece all manufactures have problems. Vw was on GMA also calling it the "flash of death" on the MFI causing a sudden lost of power also. Its was a temp sensor in the DSG gear box. The dam public over reacts to a situation all the time. If there are no injuries a manufacter is less likely to issue a major recall unless someone complains to a major media outlet like GMA............ Its all about the cost to the auto companies
