Nice fine! They look official and pretty delightful but I know for a fact they're uncomfortable AF, especially for typical ingress and egress..

Hard pass for me; for better for worst, I'll stick with the standard seats.

Although I'm probably 1/2 his assumed weight, I don't want to end up looking like this dude below attempting to exit my sweet ride in style 😎

It's bad enough getting out of the M2

Anyone else feel like they could have really improved this if they included the traditional M lower front bumper design like either from the E46, E90, or F80. Those front bumper designs are somewhat different but all in the same family and this one seems a bit rough.

Maybe it's the lighting in that pic, but I don't see any CF on the seats. Almost makes me think they will offer the same style seats as the M3/4, but without the CF for the M2.

Very perceptive of you to deduce that.. 😉

And that's exactly what they are going to do; offer the same carbon fiber - esque bucket seat styling, minus the carbon fiber composite, in order to keep the cost down..

Word on the street is a single G8X carbon bucket seat replacement goes for about roughly $8,000. So, naturally, if they are trying to keep the M2 within a certain price tier, it can't possible have all the amenities reserved for the M4 - unless you're willing to level up to a CS version.

I've seen similar cost-reduction strategies on the standard BMW design, where the M car model's suspension components are identical in design to their lower-cost counterparts but instead of stainless steel, they are made of high-grade aluminum..

I ain't mad at them but simple calling it like I see it.. 😎

Maybe for you that's a fact, but I know several people that have these seats and they say they are unbelievably comfortable. I have sat in them and they are unbelievably comfortable, and this is coming from a 6'2" man that weighs 240lbs. I like to side with first hand experience compared to speculation

If the G87 didn't have these as an option, I would not be buying. It's a "deal breaker" option for me.

I guess it's a matter of opinion but according to the feedback I've received, they are dozen of long-term owner complaints about how intolerable they are, so there's that.. And common sense will dictate that referring to any bucket seat as 'comfortable' is a oxymoron. The very nature of the design is to cater to racing, thus, they are not very limber or the most comfortable seats for road trips but to each is own..

I've sat in them...they're definitely comfortable however I've never spent more than 15 minutes in them. That being said, my gripe with the seats is getting in and out of the car rubbing up against the side bolster, it's annoying...and I'm 5'9 180.

Yeah, it's been slow on new info lately.

But that last pic of the rear bumper scares me. The contours of the rear bumper and the tail lights just looks really bad. I imagine this car is going to look really good at some angles and really bad at others, just like most recent BMWs. Hopefully the good is enough to overlook the bad in this case.

Keep in mind that manufacturers put boxy covers under camo these days to prevent us from seeing what the actual design is. That might just be it in that picture

Good point. I think you're right in this case as other more revealing spy shots show the contour being less prominent although still slightly awkward. Either way, hoping this turns out to look great!

So are we thinking an official reveal / announce sometime in June/July/august? Just keying off SOP in 12/22. Not sure how this usually works but I'm curious to see the official launch! I'll be keeping my F87 though.

  • Official reveal is going to be late summer, typically 2~3mo before production starts. Most likely September, TBD.
  • General pricing typically 1~2 months after the reveal.
  • Ordering/Pricing Guides roughly 1~2 weeks after general pricing reveal.
  • Production date is just a placeholder. Typically starts sooner, but with the supply chain disruption it can also end up starting later.
  • If production starts on schedule you'll see the first G87 on streets of the US around late January since they are being built and shipped from SLP.

Still see the taillights from the G42.

They will build a launch car and more then likely in batch and then ship to all 385 U.S. Centers. I am guessing March ‘23 launch if all goes well with no delays.

Looks like they've removed some of the rear panel covers. You can see what appears to be the shape of the rear bumper starting at the 24s mark of the above video and multiple times afterwards. I don't know how I feel about it, looks weird. Maybe it'll look better once the camo is dropped.

Some closeups of the rear bumper. Notice it has vertical rear reflectors just like the G42.

Very aggressive rear. Looks a little funky but I think that's the camo. I mean it's hard to screw up a rear bumper right?

Just glad to see more coming off. Lighting has to be next!

This is interesting, the circled M240i design sketch looks like the rear of the G87.
