My answer was about the current ones (I'm pretty sure that's what the question was about). What tech will be in G45 is too soon to tell.

Though recent history shows that BMW refreshes infotainment systems every 3 years. Make of it what you will.

Will they retain iD7 or just integrate iD8 into current hardware?

In the main post, it says X5/X6/X7 would receive Motorway/Highway Assistant in April 2023.

For the LCI X7, the sensor 'hexagon' under the front bumper has been enlarged over the last model, and it also supports Parking Assistant Professional (instead of the old 'Plus'), which is on the new 7 and iX.

Does this suggest that the LCI X7 already has all the hardware needed for Highway Assistant, and even earlier models produced before April 2023 could have a (paid) software update programmed later to enable Highway Assistant?

Otherwise, the first few months of early LCI X7s would miss out on this feature.

Interesting that BMW seems to not see any market for U11 BEV versions.
Might be the range which isn't too high or the overall market for a smaller crossover SUV...

What's the chassis code for the 3.0 CSL 50 Jahre? Is it G82 as well?

I'm not sure that the case - I think the more plausible answer is the the EU has strict penalties if carmakers fail CO_2 emission standards, so BMW (and others) need to sell BEVs there or pay fines. And they just can't build enough to also satisfy the US market.

Well, and the fact that it would need to be imported and the range isn't so great for rural America etc.

Yes.

This car is kinda funny on paper: it's an M4 with one unique option, which is where all the 3.0 specific changes roll into.

Added G90 SOP and the existence and SOP of G99 M5 Touring.

First news about the replacements for X5/X6/X7 and Neue Classe production at SLP. (These bits are courtesy of another reader - please raise your hand if you don't want to remain anonymous, you totally deserve credit for original research.)

Very interesting, thank you.

So, mass-market cars (3 series, X3) will get the BEV-only Neue Klasse.
This also fits with latest board communication.

1 year ago, Frank Weber (Head of Development) still said, Neue Klasse will cover each future car, from 1 series to X7. So, you see, there was a lot of discussion and strategy questions.

Is there still enough time to federalize the G61/G99 for the us market if they change their mind?

In their latest M video on YouTube, they said that station wagons still don't generate too much interest/volume in the US.

This is the reason why there aren't any tourings. And this leads to the fact that they do not offer the new G81 M3 Touring. There could be enough demand, but the homologation is quite expensive because the base car (G21) is not offered in the US. This shows the enormous costs due to bureaucracy.

Interesting. BMW has said 2025 SOP for the first of the Neue Klasse cars at the new Debrecen plant – has this been delayed, or is production at SLP just starting later?
