I have not used an electric smoker, I do have two treagers and I have used a vertical water smoker (basically a cabinet with a propane burner, cast iron smoke box and a bowl of water).

If there is a water tray I would guess the electric smoker is similar to the vertical (not 100% sure).

When done properly I think you get better quality out of the more 'traditional' smokers, however I think you get 90% of the quality for about 20% of the work with the pellet cookers.

I think pellet cookers are a great way to get started because they are so easy that you will actually use them, they are pretty versatile and can produce outstanding food.

Pellet cookers allow you to work on your recipe because the 'cook' is a very well controlled variable.

If you already have a grill an electric smoker could be a nice addition, if you are looking for an all in one (at least for now) the pellet cooker is pretty good.

I want a stick burner now, and I may build one.

This assessment is spot on.

I've always had Weber gas grills which I love, but I recently also bought a GMG Daniel Boone. I then bought the pizza oven accessory and holy crap this thing is a pizza CHAMPION. My very first run ever and the pizzas were perfect. Now I just have to work on the round shape, this isn't the GMG's fault.

Reverse seared a ribeye last night. I tossed a small chunk of post oak in while it was cooking, it gave it a touch of smoke. I over cooked it a hair but it was damn good.

My wife tossed some cheddar biscuits together too. Pregnancy craving.

Those look great! My first few pizzas were not exactly round, still delicious!

Trying to get healthy again, I put on a few since the rona closed the gym. Grilled up a couple of BBQ chicken breasts last night. Just a light dusting of rub, applewood for smoke and brushed on some bbq sauce. Probably not healthy but it was tasty.

That is a healthy meal, if you scrutinize every little thing you'll go insane haha. If you eat 2 meals similar to that, limit snacking, a relatively healthy breakfast (my definition of healthy is broad, if it has a good protein source and you're not crushing pancakes/muffins/etc.) you'll be good. Big thing is just not gorging yourself on food, this is why Americans have a ridiculous obesity rate lol.

True. I should probably skip the cheddar biscuit though. Haha

Meh, I'm a big supporter of carbs. They're energy, but everything in moderation obviously!

My wife makes them from scratch too. Doesnt even pull out a recipe, just slaps them together in a bowl and plops them in a cast iron skillet.

To give her credit my wife has learned to be a wonderful cook whereas when I first met her she probably couldn't even boil an egg?!?!

Trust me sir ...... it was very delicious and she really out did herself last night!!

My friends are often asking if we're having a BBQ or get together ( Pre Covid days of course) so they can come over and enjoy her cooking. She's a great host and she's been blue all summer without these get togethers!!!

You'll be invited for our next one whenever that may be!!!
