In my previous car, a Subaru BRZ, I racked up 200K over almost 10 years doing this commute, mostly preCOVID when I was going to the office 5 days a week. |

Eco is set as my default mode since when I begin a drive I prefer it to be in the mode I use for my work commute. When I drive to and from work I am not a race car driver, I am content just cruising at a civilized speed/manner.
So I have the below options: 1. Default to sport plus and change it back to eco when at lower highway speeds to optimize fuel economy. This would result in many drive mode switches during a work commute. 2. Default to eco and switch to sport plus if I feel the need for it. This would be between 0-3 switches. Option 2 makes the most sense to me |

Think you’re missing the point. At a cruising speed of 70/80 whatever, all eco pro is saving you is your A/C. |

I will note, I HATE the way the car drives in Eco Pro for city use. As for highway, using cruise control exclusively, to me it drives like Comfort since I am not using the accelerator pedal. In my mind, it should be no worse than comfort, so why not use it under those conditions. Rather than complain about the use of Eco Pro in a sports coupe, a better question is why go for the B58 when the B48 would have sufficed? Obviously, the answer is we want the power when we want it, but we suffer worse economy for carrying around the B58 the rest of the time. |

Just because one decides to drive on a highway in eco does not mean they do not enjoy the B58 pretty much all other times. When I use eco I am driving in a straight line for ~40 miles and the drive mode really doesn’t matter. “So why don’t you just leave it in sport if it doesn’t matter?” Because when I have to slow down for stop and go traffic I am getting the fuel economy benefit. Out of curiosity, for my next fill up I am going to stay in sport/sport plus the entire time, I’m interested to see the difference. If it’s minimal, I may have to code my new default mode. |

Also, I wouldn't give up the sound of the inline 6 over the 4 cylinder. I just know I'm paying a fuel penalty all the time for the privilege. Sometimes I wish cars were just a mode of transport for me, I'd save a TON of money. |
