Lol don't get black. As much as I love the black, it's so stressful trying to keep it clean all the time. And when you do see something, immediate panic! When I spec this car, originally it was the frozen pure grey. I made the change last min before going into production. I've always wanted a black BMW and that was the chance. I don't regret it, but just know it comes with a cost.

My BSM looks so good when it is clean, and only slightly less good when it is dirty. I haven't regretted it. As for swirls, hand wash only with proper technique. My paint looks as good as day one.

Same for me with my BSM. 4800 miles in and the paint and clear look perfect. This car looks so menacing in black. I love it so much.

I also have no regrets on the BSM, although do I have full PPF, so I have opted out of the concern on the swirls. I give it a 20-minute wipe down with waterless wash weekly and she's good to go. Can't say the same for the wheels, though. That's a 45-minute ordeal.

Thank you! I used to buy white cars. Found them super boring so been only buying black cars last 10 yrs. What I find helpful is getting a full detail once a year to take care of the swirls. My car is mostly PPF except for the doors and trunk so this helps a lot.

I like my women like I like my cars. High maintenance lol

Have you gotten scuff marks on your ppf on the rockers? I have some marks from shoes. Wondering if you have gotten any and have had luck removing them.

Yeah the black wheels are a pain with the stock pads.

Detailing spray generally removes the scuffs on ppf.

Have you thought about ceramic coating the wheels? I heard it helps.

As JABCAT mentioned, the waterless wash (or detailing spray) does a pretty good job of wiping away any scuffs on the PPF. If the scuffs aren't going away after being cleaned, maybe try leaving the car in the sun to let the PPF's self healing work its magic.

When you say detailing spray do you mean something like wizards mist n shine, or something labeled as detailing spray? Wanted to clarify since there are many options out there.

I did ceramic coat the wheels, and maybe it helps with the cleaning, but I'd be pressed to say that the difference was any more significant than a placebo. The wheels still get super dirty and the only real solution is changing out the pads. I have accepted that I will just be spending 45 minutes a week getting them clean since I don't care to swap out the pads.

My Xpel shop hooks me up a few bottles of their detail spray so that's what I use. I've also Meguiar's waterless spray wash/wax as well.

It absolutely is. If you visit in the M2, make sure you’re not lowered and have the oil cooler protected. 😉
