edmunds u-drag race (1/4 mile drag, stop and u-turn, then 1/4 mile back)

interesting results. M2 did better than expected in the straight line performance. and the kia did better than i thought under braking and turning.

In the first race the M2 driver mentioned they would launch in manual mode but then put the AT into drive mode because it's faster at shifting that way. He then went on to gripe about the AT being slow. The one thing I was looking for in the video was did he place the AT into auto or sport auto because that makes a big difference. You can't see what he did in the video, and I don't think he did which would line up with his complaint about the transmission.

The BMW M2 Is a Throwback That Only Throws So Far

Spiritually, the M2 has a connection to previous, old school BMWs. But mechanically, it’s very much a 21st century Bavarian.

Roat & Track PCOTY

Acura won in the M2's class for price and practicality... $52k+ for a wrong wheel drive car is tough to swallow though, no matter how good the shifter is.

In a showdown between the eternal German rivals, we pit the rowdy RWD BMW M2 against the all-wheel-driven Mercedes-AMG A45 S during our CAR Performance Shootout 2024. Do you think the tri-pointed star-badged hyper hatch with its impressive launch abilities fend off the straight-six-powered Bavarian?

C&D Lightning Lap 2024 features the M2.
https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...ning-lap-2024/

Pretty good review, short though. Just seems odd no-one would mention that the M2 is on much less aggressive tires than most the cars in the test... hard to imagine a larger factor impacting lap times than street oriented tires.

For the Money this is the best fun toy you're going to have. A bit of suspension and brake work, and you got a nice track car.

Yeah, last year they ran the RS3, started it on the PZ4 (what came on many M2 from the factory and equivalent-ish to the PS4S) and it ran a 3:01.9. Then they swapped to the optional Trofeo R and it ran a 2:52.5.

They will only run factory offered tires, which begs the question why aren't Cup2s available in the US for the M2? I believe they are offered in other markets.

Hadn't seen this posted. Good showing by the M2 against a perennial foe.

This latest, and last, BMW M2 is nothing short of immense fun. Its rousing powerplant and overall excellent chassis tuning make it quite potent on both paved roads and focused track tarmac, and you'd never mistake it for a non-M offering.

I got flamed a few weeks ago for calling them "rubber bands" lmao. They are though.

Rear tire on 1000M is way too skimpy.

The wheels are tucked so far back it the effect is exaggerated. You see more tire when people use spacers or a wider wheel.

a genuine question

Is it possible to swap the G87 M2 front grill( KIT) and lights with the previous generation F87 M2. I strongly believe F87 looked a lot cooler

Could this topic be renamed from "Reviews of 2023 BMW M2 (G87) Are Here!" to "Reviews of the BMW M2 (G87)" We are now seeing reviews on the 2024, and it wont be long before we see 2025 reviews.
