Toyota Supra's 6MT Is Derived From The Four-Cylinder BMW Z4

M2 will get a detuned S58 for both the base as well as the competition model. It makes no sense for BMW to give Toyota their top of the line 503hp S58 variant, but not the M2. They also wouldn't want the Supra potentially cannibalizing M2 sales.

Remembering past remarks about G42/G29 similarities and questioning possibility of some Toyota connection to G87 transmission development.

So apparently some press/journalists will be driving camo'd prototypes of the M2 in a few days but there will be an embargo until mid June.

That’s 10x more exciting than the undressing of the camo!

I guess that's a matter of perspective, 'cause I see like 68 pages of whining and moaning over trivial nonsense..

Now that complaints about the lack of physical buttons is subsiding, I bet that the next grievance is on the appearance of the rear floating brake calipers or I might hedge on lack of an AWD or DCT option.

It's coming and this bus is never late.. 😗

That'll most likely be the M4 CSL, which I believe goes into production in August.

The 2023 BMW M4 CSL will debut at Italy’s 2022 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este that will run May 20-22. BMW M released a teaser for this more hardcore version of the M4 on Facebook Wednesday. A BMW press release published that same day confirmed the CSL will make its public debut at Villa d’Este.

The M3 Touring and/or G87 debut at Goodwood.

I was also surprised at the several pages of discussion over iDrive 8. I will miss all the physical controls just as much as the next person, but the infotainment system is not why I'm interested in the G87. I will however say that I am disappointed that they cheeped out on the rear brakes with shitty and heavy iron floating calipers. Even though it's painted to match the front calipers you can still see the underlying texture from sand casting and they add extra unsprung weight. I was shocked when I first saw them on the M3/4. Even my M Performance (which is not an M car) daily driver has fixed aluminum rear calipers from factory. Damn those bean counters.

The large screen/ minimum buttons is not the end of the world, it's the wave of the future. Even Mercedes is offering something similar on their 2023 CLS, albeit, better integrated. So, It is what it is, no point in crying over spilled milk.

And you're 100% correct they cheap out the rear floating brakes. This dude below stated so not in many words.. Yea another comprise we're forced to embrace.

That video is hilarious, he practically admits they couldn't 'afford' to come up with another braking system but does leave the door open to a future development. This is the type of stuff that gets under my skin. Single piston cast iron floating calipers on an M car? For shame.

My understanding is same (top) performance class - different transmissions. I'm unclear about power.

I know the B58 is receiving another TU (technical update) for 2023 production so I would suspect that the S58 has one pending as well?

ynguldyn confirmed the base M2 would be getting 455hp. He did not mention any difference in power between transmissions which would suggest there isn't any.
