Agreed and agreed. Neither are deal breakers however.

I just hope the car is as lively and playful as the F87. I'd rather it not become an uber-refined cruiser.

Seats in my m340 are nicer
I don't know if it's the hybrid leather/fake suede that's throwing me off (which, long term, is going to wear out like crap) or the flat seat bottoms but I tend to agree, the M340i M Sport seats do appear to look better..

And no leather seat color option is a real shame.. Red or peanut butter would of been divine.

.
Weird the seats appear to be the same , but it's the material used that makes them look inferior. Seems to me

You're comparing apples to oranges. Cayman will be better in every way. BMW may have gotten things better with this one but it will not be as good at a Porsche.

I simply would like to know how much lighter the G87 M2 is compared to the G80 M3...

It will be somewhere between the F87 M2C/CS and the G8x, I would say in the ~1680kg/3700lbs range for the 8AT and 25kg/55 lbs less for the 6MT.

1600-1650 for the MT is a good number IMO with the extra power of S58.
would be happy with that.

@BMW, we know you're listening so don't let us down.

BMW isn't full of surprises anymore, they're very predictable. I bet you anything that's exactly the seats we'll end up on the US market, if you don't opt for the carbon bucket - take it or leave it.

M340i Weight Increase https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1599263

.

The G82, M240i, and M340i all tops out at over 3,800lbs+.

With practically no weight savings expect maybe a few scattered pieces of aluminum suspension components here and there, I expect the G87 to hit right about that number, so plus or minus 100lbs..

Spite is not the word.. More like that ship has already sailed and these are the standard seat design they choose for the M2, for better or worst.. 😗

Those cheap seats lack the proper bolstering needed for an M car. The one review with Joe A. mentioned he was sliding around in them. If they use them in the G87 I will incessantly rip BMW a new anoosehole every chance I get, and believe me, they won't like it.

Sorry, the M2 embossing on the backrest makes it official. It is what it is, so start sharpening your spears..

I really don't want to be one of those people that nitpick every single detail that drops but honestly, those standard seats are major disappointment for the M2 👎🏻

The upside is they do look like they'll be comfortable, like something you can easily slide in and out of but a terrible compromise for lateral support.

I'm also worried how that alcantra material will wear in like over 3 years of daily usage. Trust me, It's no longer going to look pretty 😗

It doesn't make it official though. It's still a prototype.

The VP of BMW M stated the G87 will get the G8x seats as standard and the CF bucket as an option.

Hmm… Interesting when you consider that all the press prototypes have these seats instead.. You figure they put their best seat forward went dealing with the press..

They might be only used in other markets and not NA, at least that's the hope. I have a feeling the bean counters wouldn't let them use the M3/4 seats and the engineers were saying the cheap seats didn't have enough bolstering for an M car; enter alcantara inserts.

Dude, I don't 100% trust anything they say. I'm not saying they're intentionally lying, but they've been inaccurate on many details in the past. I can't blame them, these cars vary a lot region to region, etc.

Only 1 of the 2 vehicles had these seats. Don't think it's too out of the ordinary. Probably a vehicle that never got the proper seats when it was produced who knows how long ago. It does have roughly 10k miles on it so I'd presume a good ways back.
