I find this weird coming from an owner of a G87. It's not like the RWD M2 is a lot lighter than a RWD M4. Why did you buy it instead of the M4? If you drove both and I'm guessing you did, there's obviously a difference in packaging and overall size, and the weight doesn't tell the whole story.

I imagine min $10K, probably closer $15K or more for better speced G82.

Buddy, I owned one. Everyone’s absolutely entitled to their opinion and that was mine.

What does owning the car have anything to do with being surprised others may pick it over another?

You’re missing the point. Me thinking it’s wild is MY opinion, which I’m entitled to…especially on a forum. Get on with your night man.

If anyone is, in actual seriousness, asking WHY M2 over M4, I can tell you that I chose it because:

1) easier to break away the back-end making it more fun to hoon around in

2) I like Coupe form factor far more than the Saloon (visibility, parkability, and side profile).

3) cheaper

I also like strawberry more than chocolate, bourbon over scotch, and star trek more than star wars, if we are discussing matters of taste.

I think the point is that your opinion is coming off as super judgey? Dismissive? Not chill? Hopefully that's not what you intended.

I like the M2 over the M4 because of the grill.

If BMW wants to create the "ultimate driving machine" then they should really read what, we the drivers really want. We want a M2 with a real engine, no hybrid garbage. Of course awd, lower the weight of the car and make it compete with the big boys. If that hurts the M3 and M4 so be it. That just means your designers need to step it up a notch.

Could you explain how is it easier to drift (if you are talking about drifting) a shorter wheelbase, yeah it will be easier to slide it in the city, but overall longer wheelbase allows more stability at a bigger angle.

Launched is the key word. X drive is required in a 525 HP small 2 door coupe to put an end to all those pesky Teslas at the stoplight. 😝
