I think - if done right - this might be really cool.
I'm getting a nineties E36 M3 retro vibe from it. |

Without some sort of surround/accent trim on the front kidney grills, it strikes me as looking sort of..... cheap?
Something I'd expect on a base-model Kia, not a high-end BMW. R.

Interestingly SCOTT26 said he couldn't confirm if this is fake or not, but in the official release thread for the 240i/M240i, he said the air vents in the M2 were upside down. :

Exactly. It's amazing how people talk out of their butts like that. Saw some clown on r/BMW saying the same nonsense yesterday.

M3 and M4 shares the 4 series front-end/headlights
It's been like this since at least E90, E90 M3 (4dr) shares the E92 3 series/M3 grill/headlights instead of the E90 ones F80 has the F32/F82 headlight/grill instead of the F30 ones as well G80 shares the headlights with G22/G82 |

More generally, (i) M headlights have always been carried over from either the sedan or (more often/always) the coupe and (ii) M doesn't change the headlight geometry (or much else if they can help it) of the cars once they are in production.

Picking up the Gundam esthetic from the G8x and doubling down. Real or fake, no thanks

Every sheet put on the right proportions will be loved by enthusiasts. Time will pass, and even more will love the same ugly thing placed on the right proportions.
