I think the 09+ models have the updated V8, probably why the earlier models are priced more attractively.
I know someone who has 2 Astons, will ask him for his experience as well. |

Not sure I understand this poll because some of these are going to be pretty beat to get them for $60k used, but a stingray is about $60k new.

As far as new or used, in the $60k range, you can get pretty fast without dipping into used. But I've found some decent early 2007-2008 911 Turbos for around $60-65k. The C7 has garnered a lot of support so far and in researching this car, I've found that the Z51 is a "must have" and the new GS is even more desirable. For now, I've decided to do just "one more" mod to the M235i - meth and big turbo. That'll bridge the gap for 2 years before I can buy the ~$60k replacement. Notable suggestions that came from everyone's awesome responses: 1. Mustang GT350/350R 2. Upcoming Audi TTRS with APR stage I+ 3. C6 Z06/ZR1 4. Aston Martin Vantage V8 - awesome car, but not in the same performance category as others 5. Current gen Camaro SS 6. F80/F82 M3/M4 There were a few other suggestions but they were just too heavy and comfortable. Yeah the F10 M5 and S6 are heavy and plush too. In fact, no one had voted for them really so they're now out of the running essentially. |

In two years there will be a selection of used C7 Z06 cars, and those are fast.

Every year there will be a new crop of used cars that are attainable for $60k. You could spend your whole life waiting if you do that. The only person to benefit will be your child when he buys a fast car with his inheritance

Honestly, not yet. Had 2 consecutive major leg surgeries so been cooped up for months. I've driven the F10 M5, early GTR, a standard Mustang GT with the Coyote, and a used C6 in the past. Also ridden in a heavily modded APR S6. Been in a C7 with Z51. I just got cleared to drive post surgery so will start making my rounds. Plan is to goto a track day and see if I can ride or drive fellow HPDE guys' rides between runs. Just around town. Also hit a few dealers. |

Oh yes... I drove a 5th gen Camaro SS too. It was so horrible. I felt that my Trailblazer SS was better handling. The gearshift was also really awkward with long throws.

The 235 & a Corvette, regardless if C6 or C7, are completely different cars. I plan to drive a C7 soon myself. I can tell you that the C6Z is like a pissed off silverback trying to kill you if you don't respect it. Orgasm every time to stab the go pedal. I'm modded (I would buy already modded if I were you) and 1st & 2nd gear are useless. 3rd too sometimes if the temp is cool enough & I'm only at 535 WHP. It's a huge blast to drive & I get looks & compliments everywhere I go. Big reason is the color of mine. The only thing you will hate about the car is the garbage Bose stereo. You will want to upgrade that. I did. Infinity components in the doors, Arc amp behind the seat, Rockford sub in the hatch storage area & Pioneer touchscreen HU. Don't listen to all the "The interior sucks" dopes. Is it a luxury car inside? Nope, but it ain't junk. Heated seats, dual zone climate control, power seat, tilt & power telescoping wheel, memory seats, etc. Buy at least 2LZ option package if you go C6Z & at least 2LT if you go C7 Z51). Easy to change out the console/dash bezel for one that meets your taste, plenty of vendors offer nice leather add ons (I have a bunch of stuff from Redlinegoods.com), etc. Heads, cam, cai, intake, TB, exhaust & a tune puts you over 600 WHP w/the right combo. I have cam, cai, exhaust & tune. Just leave the stock bi-mode axle-back. Close the valves & you're in stealth mode & can enjoy a quiet ride & talk to your passengers LOL. If you want to know anything or see pics of anything, let me know. I'd AT LEAST drive all the cars, minus the Camaro maybe b/c I don't think you'll want it, on your short list above before modding the 235 anymore. I would add a used Audi S6 & 2010+ CTS-V to that list & maybe an F10 M5. I'll just leave these vids of my Z06 here. |

That was the 5th generation. Those can be had now for half of your stated $60K. I'm sure you're aware of the recent Motor Trend comparison where the 6th gen Camaro SS went at it against the BMW M4. The Camaro equaled or bettered the M4 in every objective test. So yeah, it would out-handle your Trailblazer. And new, it comes in at more than $10K under your budget. Use that $10K for a blower if 455/455 hp/torque isn't enough...

Have you driven both the 5th and 6th gen Camaros? Interested to hear a comparison. There's another dude here who totally loved it, but not sure if he drove it yet. |
