the storm killed 900+ so far in Haiti and 10 so far here, I would consider that beyond deadly. We were lucky the eye wall stayed 50 miles off shore in Florida, to move hundreds of thousands of people you need days and basically they had the store within 40miles of where they said it would be and it came in at the strength they projected. It was a job well done by all here in the US. Unfortunately Haiti does not have our resources and emergency services.

I live in Savannah and left to be safe, no point in staying put. I am going to try and go back tomorrow. For the most part we got spared even though the eye skirted by about 25 miles to the east. Still a lot of water damage to the barrier islands and power out to over 250k people and will be out for a while...
This is an image of a person walking down President St in Savannah, near the Savannah River...The storm surge is the beast here...

My friend got completely flooded. Lost a very very mint 2005 AW/IR 6MT m3 that he was getting ready to post up. Sad. Whatever bs check insurance cuts won't be anywhere close to market value.

That is such bullshit. It's just a 2005 3 series as far as insurance is concerned, nevermind that it was a 6mt M3 with a rare color combo and xxxxxx packages... what a racket.

Sad M content.. sucks, perfect Imola interior with BBS RS-GT's and 40k on the clock. He pulled it from the garage a few days prior to get it cleaned up to post for sale.
Unfortunately it's the least of his concerns, they lost all of their vehicles, the newly remodeled house still has a solid foot of standing water days later. To make matters worse, they weren't in a flood zone nor anywhere close to one.

Ugh! Awful to see... I hope they had flood insurance but based on the tone of your post I'm guessing not. Having lived through Katrina, it is a long road ahead but they will survive.

Unfortunately no. The newly-remodeled house has had a foot of standing water in it for days, going to be an absolute disaster. The 4 vehicles lost are the least of his concerns at this point.

Ouch!
I bought home in Viera,Fl 2006.... no flood zone area (west of US1). I bought flood insurance at $215/yr. Couple yrs later TS Fay sat on central FL for 3 days and did $15K damage to my house. Home owners did NOT cover it because Fay was never classified as a hurricane.... but flood insurance kicked in!

That is a nightmare - so sorry to see / read. Everyone should have flood insurance. It is reasonably priced and covers a lot of unforeseen situations.

It is a highly frustrating and challenging time ahead. I'm sure they have a good circle of family and friends who can help them get through. Edit: And when someone says "don't worry, FEMA is coming to help..." You need to worry! It is nothing but a bureaucratic nightmare.

And here I'm complaining I'm still at work when I see these photo's and lots of lost lives from this storm. Makes me more thankful but I wish members on here and everyone else a speedy recovery.
