It seems to me like when a new model first comes out and people start getting used to it, the last one starts looking dated in comparison. But after a little more time goes by, or the next model after comes out, we get over what looked dated and it’s back to beautiful. I love the look of my F87, I’m not quite as excited about the G87 looks-wise, but I’m pumped for the car itself. And I’ll be really interested to see how this generation of M2, 3 and 4 age in comparison to previous generations.
I will say that the G80 has definitely grown on me. I like it, it’s just not what I’m looking for in a car for me personally. The G82 however… Ugh. I don’t know that I’ll ever appreciate that. I can deal with the front but the back half just doesn’t do it for me at all. I’ll lump it in with the E36 and move on lol. |

It seemed that multiple reviewers enjoyed driving manual, and commented that being the last of the manual transmissions, that the manual was the transmission to get. However lots also commented how much better the m2 was with the automatic. I'm 2nd in line at my dealer but I will definitely be test driving the manual before it comes in. I can't see any reason to get an automatic m2, if it comes to it I'll be looking at x drive m3 m4's.

This manual sentiment seems disingenuous, or at the very least, like you have no idea what you want. Can you explain this rationale? |

I understand where you're going. But they are pretty much di-polar experiences at the end of the day, in any modern car (more ratios, more wheel torque more of the time). Nothing new there.

I did a test to accelerate from 50 km/h in 4th and it was pretty brisk. Looking at the torque curve of the F80 at 1500 rpm, I see I get about 100 hp and 360 ft. lb torque. That feels about right when I did my test and it was far from being "completely useless" as you say for the S58. Here in Toronto, many streets are max 50 hm/h and I do sometimes run this speed in 4th. It's rare though that I keep to the speed limit, but not unrealistic that it happens. |

I too came from the F80, the S58 absolutely blows the S55 out of the water in terms of performance and drivability. |

Car manufacturers are figuring that electric turbochargers can pull hard from low rpms. Highly tuned turbos will need some help in the lower rpm range and hopefully BMW will develop electric turbo charging technology for their high strung engines.
In the era of electric and hybrid vehicles that give instant shove when needed the expectation from drivers are evolving. We should not be mad at anyone asking a manufacturer to make reasonable improvements to a product. |

Throttle House has a new video up. It's a review of the BMW XM and the thumbnail trumpets "The Most Overpriced Car of the Decade."
I haven't driven the XM and maybe it truly does suck, but that headline still reads like clickbait hyperbole. Those boys really seemed to get their feelings hurt when BMW asked them to be professional. |

Also, why bother commenting and dumping on TH without at least watching the video? I actually watched the video, and while a bit over the top at times (as TH are prone to be), I thought their commentary, and the clickbait headline, were pretty much spot on.

Remember when everyone here loved and spoke highly of TH?
On a side note, if you haven't seen their intro on the review of the new Prius it's a must see. |

They're still fine with me. I've enjoyed all their other vids that I've watched up until this one. Emotion and bias gets the best of everyone now and then. If they're smart they'll learn something from it. This review of the M2 won't age well but I'll still tune in to see what they say once they get it out on the track. |

There is not shortage of interesting things to view on the planet. TH is just another. None of the 'influencers' on SHITETUBE ever factor into my decision matrix. With nothing new to review they matter little or hardly exist.
The useless over paid car reviewing narcissists of the world are less than interesting and add ZERO value to most if not all things. They can say they have a job. If they all disappeared tomorrow - car sales and interest in them would NOT EVEN FEEL IT. |

At least he has the decency to admit he's going into the wrong gear before doing it. Lol. No 6 speed manual car is going to take off in 4th gear when you're sitting at 54 miles an hour. If it's anything like the G80 6MT, 4th gear tops out at 140mph - which is 15 mph off the governor. This does clash with some of the other reviews I've seen that say the car has good pull on 6th gear when passing on the highway.
