Got a LexisNexis report a few months back. No trip data was in the report. None from any of my previous cars including my current 230i xDrive and my M2.

But...

But I do not have any of the advanced features enabled with CarData being the one in particular that looks like it could collect trip data.

Certainly the CarData Terms and Conditions document states that data that is collected can be released to 3rd parties.

I'll attach a PDF of the CarData Terms and Conditions PDF.

Thank you. Yea we should keep an eye on this, I’ve heard stories of insurance companies receiving performance trip data from GM cars.

They say you have to sign up for it, but apparently the snitch features kick in by simply authorizing a siriusXM trial

Edit: Has anyone accessed their ‘BMW CarData’? I’m confused with the wording, in order to see it do you *also* need to “release the data for transmission to third parties” (?)

I looked into enabling CarData on my 230xi but haven't done it.

For those BMW owners not in the USA this link might be of some interest:

https://bmw-cardata.bmwgroup.com/thi...-data/overview

For USA BMW owners, there is this link:

https://aos.bmwna.com/web/usa/start

I don't think I'm going to enable CarData. For one thing I believe there is a cost to it and I'm don't want CarData that bad.

Don't know if the company specializes in insurance for BMW M4 owners.

But on another forum in which UK insurance rates were being discussed (and cussed...) a person posted he contacted Admiral and got insurance at a considerably lower cost than he was paying.

Yeah GEICO jacked mine when I added an electric appliance to the fleet and just jacked it again fo the my next renewal

Im filing a claim and then leaving them I will report back on who offers me the best rates because it’s definitely time to get some quotes 🙃

Geico has a history of jacking mine up as well for no reason. I’ve left them before and then came back years later when they were the lowest quote again! They just gave me a low quote for the M2 and then it went up right when I bought the car. I’m insuring 4 cars with them and expect my premium will go up again upon renewal. Clean record, no accidents, older, married. I should have the cheapest insurance

Regarding the CarData Terms and Conditions, it's definitely worth giving them a thorough read-through.
You can freeze that lexisNexis report so that zero data they have goes out, and it’s free to do so

No value to you for them collecting data, and no profit to them for collecting it

How do you like your M2?

See title. Seriously thinking of purchasing a M2 and only using in spring/summer/fall

Switched from All State (that i've had for 16 years) to State Farm yesterday. 6 month insurance premiums for my M2 & 7.5 GTI went from $2K to $1300. Saving myself $1,400 a year in premiums. Same coverage across the board.
Shop around, people! It sucks that they lost my business after so long but they only have themselves to blame, literally.

Yes, shop around.

Similar experience with me and I saved a lot just switching...and it was the 4th person I spoke with that had the same coverage for significantly less...the first 3 had similar, outrageous premiums.

Similar situation here. I had Insurance with Costco for just as long as you and literally called them today to cancel both my home and auto policies and switched to another insurer. Push came to shove when they sent me a recent notice that my premiums were going up yet another 20%, again.

I'd be really curious to know if anyone in CA has had any luck finding a cheaper premium this year.

Out of curiosity I inputted a 24 XM Label Red with an MSRP of 192k, USAA wants $2003.92 every 6-months for coverage. I know when I purchased my 18 M5 (F90) in 2018 when it was first released my premium increased approx. $200 every 6-months the following year.

With StateFarm I’m at 2100 for both the XM and the IX (Wife’s car).

Just received my renewal notice, and not surprisingly State Farm increased my rates again. Since switching to them they kept my rates the same for the first year on my vehicles, then 25% increase at 6 months, another 20% increase the following 6 months, about a 10% increase this renewal. My home insurance with them increased 17% the first year and now just increased another 24% at this renewal. Better believe I'm filing that claim for my roof, a/c units, gutters, fence, garage doors, windows, etc., after our recent storms. Might as well get something for what I've been paying.

When I purchased this home going on 8 years ago annual insurance premium was about $2k, it's now almost $7k. Yes my home has significantly increased in value, but the insurance seems excessive. Maybe it's not.'

I've only had the G87 a month and I had to co-term to our current policy, which ends at the end of June. That period showed $740 for 6 months. Now it's $815 for the next six month period. Overall, we went up 10% for all vehicles (3). Last renewal went up around 20%.

No accidents, no claims, in North Florida. It's insane.

We had the same situation, switched from All State to State Farm. It cut it almost in 1/2 initially, but then like I posted above SF has steadily been increasing our rates by 20-25% each renewal. I keep getting the same letter from my agent, "we really hate to do this to you, but we've petitioned corporate to only increase your rates 25% instead of the 50% they're doing across the board". At this point, it pretty much solidifies it's a scam to lure you in with low rates then jack them up.

Problem is every other carrier is as high or higher when shopping around for quotes. My collector car policy premium on my Z06 has stayed exactly the same for 3 years with an agreed value significantly more than any of my other vehicles. I can't wait until my 15-yr-old gets his license in 9 months & is added to our policy
