i think you would find the same at any top ranked school. i did a masters at an ivy, and it was also choc-a-block full of fobs, abcs, abcds, etc (i.e. higher percentage when compared to their portion of the overall population). it might be a function of immigrant parents--in highs school, definitely remember my parents pushing education pretty hard versus my white friends, whose parents even seemed ok w/ JCs, etc.

I would have to agree with you. I've heard this from all of my friends who have gone to good schools.

Well one attitude is,

"It's okay Johnny, as long as you try your best."

vs.

"We're cutting off your allowance and making you come back to the U.S. if you don't get straight A's."

The first and foremost reason the reason many of the fobs come here is for an education. First/second generations generally work harder. You see many more of the later generations of Asian Americans being lazy as opposed to the first two.

You mean "from the US?" But yeah in any engineering program there will be a large population. My friends definitely weren't in that program though. Both schools just have a large overall asain population.

Yeah Engineering everywhere is chock full of them. I've never seen people work as hard as Asian (first or second gen) engineering students.

actually, asian + indian pre-med students work pretty damn hard. the mean in most o-chem classes that my friends have been in was always pretty brutal. it may be easier to goto a crappy undergrad, slay the mean, and then get into a top-notch medical program...

Oh God. Orgo at UofM was a notorious weeder class. Your mention of that is probably going to give me flashbacks and nightmares.

If you have to say you're not a racist, you probably are. Just like when people say that they're not gay.
