Two of the members committed suicide by hanging themselves, Pete Ham in 1975 and Tom Evans in 1983. Mike Gibbons died of a brain aneurism in 2005. The surviving member is Joey Molland.

Here he is performing in 2018.

The "studio" version (legend has it that it was recorded in D.L.'s garage) of D.L. Menard's "The Back Door." Cajun music at its best.

For the uninitiated, Cajun is generally country-flavored with white performers, while Zydeco is more rock-flavored with black performers; there is considerable overlap between the two, though.

Actually, I think this story was buried deep in my memory. Terribly sad. I have three (all?) CDs by Badfinger and really think that they were great. At the time (early 1970s) I was more into heavy stuff (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, etc.) but really enjoyed Badfinger's work.

Speaking of "heavy stuff" I have most/all of Black Sabbath and AC/DC in my CD collection and the younger generation (my wife's daughters) are horrified when they hear that. I'm reminded of Dave Edmunds' song "I Knew the Bride When She Used to Rock & Roll." I used to rock and roll -- and every once in a great while, I still break out the AC/DC or Black Sabbath (at age 75.)

But then every once in a great while I break out my Beijing opera cassette tapes -- most Westerners consider those to be the equivalent of somebody torturing a cat!

For those of you who just got a bunch of "likes" from me, I did a deep dive into this thread and really enjoyed the music! Thank you!

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Learning to Fly

Which reminds me of how much I miss Tom and George Harrison -- I really enjoy the Traveling Wilburys... In fact, I miss so many wonderful artists. Do they die young because of the rock and roll lifestyle?

I must admit I didn't know Tom Petty had passed at the age of nearly 67 and George Harrison was attacked by a madman who broke into his home and stabbed him in chest which certainly didn't help his life expectancy.
Being a rock and roll star has some downsides for sure.

Some good old rock 'n' roll, Doors style.

Another great artist who died too early.
