Fair enough re: the sponsors but I just don't get American's fascination/obsession with athletes and celebrities.

Pretty sure this is not unique to Americans either.

Here's one take on it, and just a simple one. These celebrities/athletes are superstars and known around the world because of their abilities in whatever that may be. In this case of course it's golf. This applies to anyone that is a celebrity though. These people are held up to higher standards than the average person like you and I. They are paid handsomely and whether it's fair or not, they are in the public eye at all times but it's not like they don't know it. Some cherish that, some don't. At the end of the day, millions of people not only hold them up to a higher standard, they also see them as "role models" often times. TW is definitely in that class.

I could care less what is on that black box. Did he commit a crime? Nope, let it go and let him have his privacy. Even if he did I don't care, that is his problem.

I'm beyond tired of reading about celebrates buying a bicycle or or what they do when they are constipated. Why give a shit, they are people just like every other person on the planet. Oh they entertain us, will leave it there thank you...

My one contribution to this thread was not talking about TW. Frankly my amazement is that this thread has reached 8 pages...

And I get the admiration of their skills/talent but "higher standard" is a stretch for me. They do their job and go home. Some celebrities think their talent gives their view of the world more weight and there are plenty folks who agree with that, I just happen to be one who doesn't.

From what I've read I think now that full info from 'black boxes' or own 'car cams' can't be used by authorities without owners permission to determine the full facts because they may be infringing on human rights.

If I (as a normal civilian, not a celebrity) were exceeding the speed limit on a public road by more than 45mph, would the police still call it "an unsafe manner for road conditions" and not bother with giving me a citation?

Just curious here. I'm betting I know the answer. And I'm betting someone tied up the hands of the police here too.

With no independent witness(es) it cannot be proven even though the suspicion is there. There are many considerations, but excessive speed is a factor. In order to prove reckless, an officer/deputy needs to observe the driving behavior OR have independent witnesses.

Yes! It happens all of the time. I've chosen not to write citations for it myself. I could upload photos of traffic collisions I've written where people were injured and I still didn't cite party #1.
